A fundraiser for the Williamston Theatre Sunday, July 28 at 7pm $15 per ticket Directed by Tony Caselli This staged reading of the classic love story will feature two of the Theatre’s co-founders, John Lepard and Emily Sutton-Smith. The piece is comprised of letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people, sometime lovers, who grow up together, go their separate ways, and continue to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny, but always telling, pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down. Mr. Lepard and Ms. Sutton-Smith are married and have a young son together. This is the first time they will be on stage together since 2004. Tickets go on sale July 2. www.williamstontheatre.com 7/20 - As most of you know, Dave Milstein made a peaceful transition out of this life May 16 at the Stoneleigh Hospice, after nine months on life support machines due to severe West Nile Virus. We will miss this longtime Lansing theatre supporter. Condolences can go to Barb Milstein #535 Burcham Hills, 2700 Burcham Dr. East Lansing, 48823, (517-703-3257.) Dave was an actor, perhaps best known for his role as Chief Brown Bear in the Barn’s 1979 production of Little Mary Sunshine, a techie, a cheerleader for his talented theatre family, an avid arts supporter and a Thespie judge. Sympathies to his wife, Barbara, their children Judy, Cindy, Karen, and Martha and their families.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at 1 pm Saturday, July 20, at Riverwalk Theatre lobby. On behalf of Director Justin Brewer, I am making the request for anyone wishing to have a veteran honored and acknowledged at the Riverwalk Theatre production of M*A*S*H (September 12-22), to submit a photo of a uniformed veteran. We encourage you to honor any veteran you know (whether living or deceased), by forwarding a photo to this e-mail address: mivetphotos@gmail.com. This is our way of paying tribute to the service and sacrifice of our U.S. military during this production. When you submit the photo, please include the name, branch of service, and whether the veteran served in any combat (World War II, Korea,Vietnam, Persian Gulf, etc.). The deadline for submitting photos in August, 16. I thank you. -- Gary Mitchell (producer)
In his classic and beloved novel, E. B. White tells the memorable story of Wilbur (John Henrikson), a little pig who becomes famous with the help of his clever spider friend Charlotte (Alma Cooper) and their chatty animal neighbors. As the runt of the litter, Wilbur struggles to survive from the very beginning. A young girl named Fern (Kyra Macomber) begs her father to raise Wilbur and nurse him to health. Fern succeeds and Wilbur moves to Zuckerman Farm, where he learns the true meaning of friendship. When it becomes apparent that Wilbur is being well fed for a reason, Charlotte and Wilbur are determined to foil Mr. Zuckerman’s (Kyle VanZwoll) plans. With the help of Charlotte and her “terrific” webs, Templeton (Forrest Colson) the rat, and other barnyard friends, Wilbur becomes the prize-winning pig of the County Fair and the most famous pig ever. Lessons of friendship, loyalty, and truth bind this story together and show theatre goers that friends come in all shapes and sizes.
