Hey Theatre Family! I am an ambassador for Real Men Wear Pink of Lansing this year! What this means for me is I have not only agreed to raise at least $2,500 for breast cancer research and prevention, but to also wear pink each day in October. What I am asking of my familynis to show their support to my campaign by donating what you can to my campaign to help with not only my success in keeping my promise to the American Cancer Society, but to help find a cure for Breast Cancer. You can donate to my campaign by visiting my page at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/pmonroe. Your donation is tax deductible and I deeply appreciate your support! My deadline for donations is October 31st. Thank you all! Patrick Monroe Downeaster News

Starlight Dinner Theatre Opens Season with “CALENDAR GIRLS” TOMORROW — Great seats available opening night and October 20 - we are having a blast. (Spoiler: I, Jane, do NOT take my clothes off in this show — but it is still worth seeing! Haha!) Starlight Dinner Theatre opens the 14th season with the smash-hit and timeless comedy “Calendar Girls”. Based on a true story, when middle-age Annie (Laura Stebbins) loses her husband John (Bill Henson) from leukemia, she and best friend Chris (Tanya Burnham) resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Yorkshire Women’s Institute members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on their small village. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame. Director Kristine Thatcher has put together a cast of talented stage performers that includes: Candace Myers, Gloria Vivalda, Charlotte Ruppert, Susan DeRosa, Bruce Bennett, Jacob Meier, Jane Zussman, Cele Friestater, Kellie Stonebrook, Greg Pratt and Anita Calcagno. The Miller Plays at MSU Although they could not be more at odds in plot and style, Arthur Miller’s A Memory of Two Mondays and A View From the Bridge are linked by the common thread of immigration. A Memory of Two Mondays, which is based loosely on Miller’s own life, is the story of Bert, a young man who works in an auto parts warehouse. Through his eyes, we witness the lives of his coworkers and their moments of friendship, love and solidarity, as well as the times they are plagued by xenophobia, alcoholism, and loss. A View From the Bridgetraces the downfall of Eddie, a longshoreman who agrees to harbor his Italian relatives after they illegally enter the country in search of work. When one of the men falls for Eddie’s adopted niece, he is forced to reckon with the growing distrust and fear he begins to exhibit. Miller fearlessly examines the lives of America and her people, native and foreign alike. Rarely produced in their original pairing,The Miller Playsoffer authentic investigations of America that feel painfully familiar today. The Miller Playsruns from Oct. 12 to Oct. 21 at the Wharton Center’s Pasant Theatre.
