Blue Light Auditions for Matilda the Musical

​The Blue Light Players will host auditions for adult and youth roles in its 2020 production of “Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical” on Sunday, August 25th and Monday, August 26th, 2019. Auditions will take place at the Delta Enrichment Center in Delta Township. For detailed information about the auditions, please visit the Blue Light Players website at: www.bluelightplayers.com
           Youth Auditions: August 25th, 2pm-4pm
           Adult Auditions: August 25th and 26th, 6pm-9pmProspective cast members should keep in mind that Matilda is primarily an adult cast production, which features children. Matilda is not a “children’s show”. 
About The Show
Matilda is an exceptional child with an extraordinary imagination who learns to claim her destiny. A brilliant girl born into a…less brilliant family, Matilda gets sent away to school at the terrible Crunchem Hall, which is led by the mean former hammer-throwing champion Miss Trunchbull. Armed with good friends and a mentor named Miss Honey, Matilda starts a revolution to help herself and others “change their story.”
Time Magazine’s “Best Show of the Year”. Tony® Award winner. Featuring the hit songs “Naughty” and “When I Grow Up”. 
ADULTS ROLES
Miss Trunchbull– 30s-70s, high baritone, Headmistress of Crunchem Hall. Once a famous athlete, now described as a “gigantic Holy terror”.
Miss Honey– 20s-40s, soprano, adored by every child in her care, secretly Miss Trunchbull’s niece.
Mr. Wormwood– 20s-60s, vocal range approximately top A to f#, dealer in second hand cars, a crook.
Mrs. Wormwood– 20s-60s, strong belt voice approximately up to top F/G, mother of Michael and Matilda, obsessed with amateur ballroom dancing.
Mrs. Phelps– 20s-70s, encouraging local librarian who is Matilda’s confidant.
Rudolpho– 20s-60s, Mrs. Wormwood’s dance partner. Must be a strong social dancer, particularly with tango or other Latin dance experience.
Michael Wormwood– teens-20s, Matilda’s older brother, very deadpan.
Sergei– 20s-60s, baritone, Russian mafia boss who is after Mr. Wormwood
Doctor-20s-60s, high tenor with a comfortable top A.
Escapologist– 20s-60s, high lyric baritone
Acrobat– 20s-60s
Adult Ensemble – teens – 60+, ballroom dancers, older students, judges, cook, henchmen, parents
YOUTH ROLES 
Matilda– enigmatic, serious, intense. Strong singing and acting.
Amanda– strong dance and vocal ability
Lavender– loud and kooky, likes to have fun, strong singing, dancing and acting.
Alice– strong and bold, strong dance and vocal ability.
Hortensia– feisty, strong dance and vocal ability.
Eric– Cute. Small. Strong singing and dancing.
Bruce– Comic acting ability. Strong singing, dancing, and acting. 
Nigel– strong dance and vocal ability
Tommy– strong dance and vocal ability.
Youth Ensemble – additional youth cast members with strong singing and dancing ability who sing and dance along with the above named characters.
