The second “Cardboard Concert” in the Riverwalk parking lot brings back that “Live Theatre Thrill.” It’s an hour and a half of super talented singers delivering show tunes that speak to our experiences during the pandemic—and our hope for future togetherness in live theatres everywhere.
Director Brian Farnham has led a wonderful cast of SUPER SINGERS (Erin Biel, Ny’Kieria Blocker, Caila Conklin, John Henrikson, Kayla Henry and Luka Pawsek - with directors Brian and Angie singing, too.) Polly Bashore’s professional percussion completed the Angie Schwab “orchestra.”
These talented folks delivered humor and pathos via mostly newish songs from Waitress, Dear Evan Hanson and the like — with a couple “oldies” and even an operatic number that blew us all away (thank you, John Henrikson.) The program was a delightful conglomeration of songs, assembled by cohorts Director Brian and Music Director/Accompanist Angie Schwab.
Though it was a revue, the song selection and thoughtful framework of commentary made it feel like a “real show” - with simple but fun costuming accessories. Emcee Matt Ottinger brought his wit, wisdom and warmth to tie it all together.
Unfortunately, the planned Friday show was canceled on account of rain, but Saturday was balmy and beautiful with tomorrow looking the same for the 7 pm show. Tickets are “at the door” of Riverwalk. Even though the show is outside, lobby bathrooms ARE available. Bring your own chair (or rent one at the box office; $5 I think?) or you may opt for the “VIP” section, a limited-availability comfy couch and armchair with snacks, for an extra $25. Tickets are $15 - or $10 for Riverwalk Members.
You can review the song lineup and learn more about this talented gang through the lovely virtual program (accessible by QR code at the box office — or go to the Riverwalk website https://www.riverwalktheatre.com/show-programs.html
