Rob’s script was derived from interviews with real kids, giving their definitions/opinions/examples of different kinds of love. There is much scattering in the audience, asking kids in attendance what they love about their pets, friends, etc. It embraces a lot of uplifting/instructional truths about many faces of love yet, it never gets too sappy, since the “junk” tempers it all with humor — especially in the persona of goofy scoffer, Matt Greenbaum, who was also impressive as “inFATuation" in a wonderful interchange with the electric Sam Carter as “The CRUSHer."
My review delay is due to visiting Grandpas and assorted babysitting/chaotic weekend… and to knowing there was no show the day after, so I’d still have time to tell you LOVE & OTHER JUNK plays again ONLY TWO MORE TIMES: this Friday and Saturday, June 15-16 at 6:30 pm. Come and see it before the “beach party version” of Jane Austen’s famous novel Sense and Sensibility, which runs Wednesday through Saturday; Love and Other Junk is Friday/Saturday only.
And don’t miss Significant Other and the late show Smudge - and others Summer Circle connected activities; check out the website below.
