The talent and comedic timing are amazing, as are the enunciation, energy, and choreography of props/costumes improvising with tchotchkes from the home of the Lipbaums (Lipbalms?) where this "backer's audition" is staged. Music Director, Jeff English, is more than just an excellent accompanist; he's also another fun character in his own right. All this feels very spontaneous, but it is a masterful clockwork of chaos.
Kudos to Zev, Matt and Jeff, Director Rob Roznowski, and authors - music by Jed Feuer; witty fun book and lyrics by Boyd Graham. The set (Kirk Domer) encompasses the entire theatre. We ARE the guests of the Lipbaums in their living room full of endless props and multi-use decor (Bruce Bennett) enhanced by sponsor-logo-filled slides as "visual aids" to history (Shannon T. Schweitzer) Lighting by Alex Gay, and wild, impromptu costumes by Karen Kangas-Preston - artfully juggled into and out of by Zev and Matt.
Our audience gave a well-deserved standing ovation. Don't miss this fun summer musical madness!Runs through August 17www.williamstontheatre.com
