I’m not a Chekhov fan; I remember disliking even the “professional” BoarsHead version years ago — so don’t take my opinion as your own. If your are interested in/curious about Chekhov, this is certainly a good opportunity to experience this acclaimed author. I guess Chekhov was a groundbreaker in creating character-driven plays, and it is true, maybe profound, that people struggle with conflicting emotions and work at cross purposes with themselves and don’t always get what they want or want what they get.
Though I found it tedious and depressing, loftier minds than mine may experience what the script description says, “...an absorbing and compelling tapestry and evocation of real life and real people and, ultimately, a deeply moving and revealing human experience.”
