Legally Blonde opens 9/11 at RWT

9/8/2025

OHMIGOD, you guys! Cult classic Legally Blonde comes to Riverwalk’s mainstage.

The cast and crew of the smash hit, Legally Blonde, are hard at work getting ready to wow audiences with their bend & snap!  Riverwalk will be opening its season with this catchy pink production starting Thursday, September 11, and running through Sunday, September 21.
Director: Brian Farnham

Music Director: Angie Schwab

Synopsis: Elle Woods is the quintessential California Girl: Blonde hair, red convertible,
and handsome boyfriend to boot. When life throws her into a tailspin, Elle finds herself
thrown into the world of Harvard Law School. With the help of her friends Paulette and
Emmett, Elle goes on a journey of discovering strength, passion, and that being yourself
never goes out of style!

Veteran Director Brian Farnham is set to bring cult classic musical Legally Blonde to the
mainstage at Riverwalk Theatre. Leading the cast is Lansing newcomer Tess Klygis as
Elle Woods. Says Farnham of Klygis, “She is a masterful actress, and seeing her
character arc come full circle has been an incredible experience.” Unlike traditional
stages, Riverwalk brings you into Elle’s world, closer to the action. “You can expect a
much more intimate experience and a more engrossing story as well as a lot of laughs
and iconic moments,” Farnham adds. The cast of 22 blends newcomers and Lansing
staples into one heck of a cast; pair that with a dynamite production team, and
Riverwalk has a surefire hit on its hands. This cult classic is one you won’t want to
miss!

Fans of Legally Blonde can expect to see everyone's favorite blonde lawyer, Elle Woods, as she works her way through Harvard Law. This time, she will also juggle impressive choreography and a difficult score along with her classes, mean girls, and a complicated love life. The transformation of Elle Woods is an integral part of this story, and according to Farnham, "the musical does an even better job of showing that transformation."

Fans of Riverwalk Theatre might notice a significant number of new names in this impressive cast! 10 of the 22 cast members in this production are brand new to Riverwalk. In fact, Tess Klygis (Elle Woods) and Carsyn Cantey (Brooke Wyndham) both just recently moved to the Lansing area! In this show, you will see debut performances and performances from Riverwalk veterans alike!
