Here’s a fun hour and a half created by P.K Van Voorhees at Hannah Community Center!
The East Lansing Dance and Theatre Co, the Studio Performing Arts Center’s performing company, will be presenting an original dance ballet entitled,OPHELIA AND THE SNOW QUEEN, A Ballet in One Act March 22 and 23. The show is an original story combining dance, physical theatre and movement and clarifying narration by Artistic Director P.K. Van Voorhees and presented by a cast of 14 young dancers, aged 6-16.
From an angry Hobgoblin that builds an evil mirror, intent on conquering Heaven, bumbling Magical Wizards who create a magical sword, a village boy sent on a very confusing and never-ending mission, a young girl who is his best friend, and mischievous Pixies that befriend the Boy in the Forest, there is a flurry of activity when they encounter a Majestic Snow Owl that kidnaps the Boy, a well-meaning but self-serving Sorceress with a stunning Garden who tries to delay the girl, a Misery Bird who guards the sword day and night, and a group of Angels who assist Ophelia in her darkest moments along with the Spirit of her Mother.
OPHELIA AND THE SNOW QUEENis a fast-paced romp through fairyland with magic, testing the limits of faith in self, Evil vs. Good, a previously sweet Village-Girl-turned-Evil-Snow-Queen and one brave 9-year-old very true friend.
