Peppermint Creek Theatre’s passion statement is to produce contemporary theatre that addresses vital issues in our society, raise awareness, and encourage dialogue while entertaining. When vital issues today include a pandemic and an American society raising its voice against centuries-long injustices, we at Peppermint Creek are looking to begin a project to lift up and engage community voices.
We are asking you to share your suggestions for powerful and important texts from America’s past, reflecting all types of American voices with us. It may be in the form of letters, texts, speeches, song lyrics, PCTC is looking to raise voices that are not necessarily recorded in our history books. These texts will be combined into a project during our 2020-21 season with a goal to learn how we as a country have managed to get where we stand today.
Once submitted, selected texts will be compiled into a presentation in partnership with young members of our communities to reflect upon and interpret through words, art, and performance.
If you have ideas for any texts we should use in this performance, please send them to mailto:[email protected]no later than July 10, 2020. Please include the title of the text (if applicable), the author, and the location of the text (either include the material in your email or a link to the source material).
We are excited to create an original production for this coming season that leverages voices from our past and those of today's youth as guides as we form a roadmap for how we the people can move forward into a tomorrow worthy of our ideals.
