The Castaways by Michael and Jill Gallina
We will be holding auditions on Tues (5/27) and Thurs (5/29) from 6:30 – 8:00 at the Schmidt Community Center which is located at 5825 Wise Road in Lansing. We need 5-6 men (two of whom need to be able to carry an Irish accent and one who can sing for a solo), 2-3 women (1 sings a solo, one needs to carry an Italian accent). Also we need 7 young men and 7 young women (ages 8-13) all of whom need to be ready to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" for me and then sing something in a group. They do not need to have a song of their choice ready, nor do they need to be able to read music.
About the play: The Castaways - a musical: Grounded in historical fact, the The Castaways' plot, delivered through flashbacks, reveals the struggles of immigrant children on the streets of New York City in the early 1900s. Ultimately the happy endings for these “castaways” take them to homes with Midwestern families. Their poignant stories sensitize today's children to the stark realities of homelessness.
