The Full Monty Auditions at Owosso

4/10-11 - Owosso Community Players Auditions THE FULL MONTY

Auditions for OCP’s June musical “The Full Monty” will take place April 10 and 11 in the Studio Theater, 114 E. Main Street.  Doors Open at 6 p.m. with auditions starting at 6:30.  Many roles are available for men and women age 18 and above, as well as one role for a boy age 10-13. “The Full Monty” opens June 15 and runs for 2 weekends.

Those who audition will be asked to sing a prepared selection of about 32 bars, preferably with sheet music.  An accompanist will be provided.  All those who audition will be asked to learn a short dance combination and may be asked to read some sides.

While spying their wives at a "Girls' Night Out," a group of unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo sees how much they enjoy watching male strippers. Jealous, out of work and feeling emasculated, the men come up with a bold and unclothed way to make some quick cash. In preparing, they find themselves extremely exposed; not merely physically but emotionally. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they're stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to "let it go.”

OCP Artistic Director Garrett Bradley will direct this show. Contact [email protected] for more information.

JERRY LUKOWSKI
An unemployed mill worker, fighting to maintain his pride and the custody of his only son. All-American jock and the definitive man's man.

Jerry’s 12 year old son. Stuck in the middle of a custody battle between Jerry and Pam.

DAVE BUKATINSKY
Jerry's best friend and fellow unemployed mill worker. Very much a man's man, but more of a follower than leader. The definitive sidekick.

GEORGIE BUKATINSKY
Dave's wife. She loves her husband, and worries about him. Loud, outgoing and brash. She is the "leader" of her group of girlfriends.

HAROLD NICHOLS
An unemployed supervisor at the mill. Hot Metal's choreographer. Thinks his worth comes from providing for his wife, so he hides his unemployment from her.

VICKI NICHOLS
Harold's wife. She enjoys the finer things in life. Loves her husband more than anything, and supports him no matter what.

An Actor's Twilight Zone Auditions in Charlotte

3/17/2018

3/19-20 - 6 pm - Andromeda Community Theatre in Charlotte hopes to see all of you come out for auditions this week for an evening of Christopher Durang’s plays, under our title “The Actor’s Twilight Zone”, directed by Michael Hays of Lansing.

Christopher Durang is an American playwright known for works of outrageous and often absurd comedy, such as “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike”.

“The Actor’s Twilight Zone” will begin with “For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls”.  In this parody of “The Glass Menagerie”, the fading Southern belle, Amanda, tries to prepare her hyper-sensitive, hypochondriac son, Lawrence, for "the feminine caller." Terrified of people, Lawrence plays with his collection of glass cocktail stirrers. Ginny, the feminine caller, is hard of hearing and overbearingly friendly. Brother Tom wants to go the movies, where he keeps meeting sailors who need to be put up in his room. Amanda tries to face everything with "charm and vivacity," but sometimes she just wants to hit somebody.

After that, our hero finds himself in “The Actor’s Nightmare”, a hilarious but perhaps threatening spoof which details the plight of a stranger who is suddenly pushed on stage to replace an ailing actor.

Michael Hays, our director, is well known to the Lansing area theatre community.  He has been involved with over 130 theatre productions, and has directed about 15 shows. He has won multiple awards for his acting, along with a couple of award nominations for directing, as well as Best Play. Not long ago he graced our stage in “Witness for the Prosecution”, and we’re happy to welcome him back on the other side of the stage curtain!

We will be casting up to eight people, both male and female, of ages 20-ish through middle age.

Auditions will be this week, Monday, March 19 and Tuesday, March 20 at 6pm at Windwalker Underground Galleries, 125 S Cochran, Charlotte.  All community members interested in performing or volunteering for this production should attend at least one of these open auditions.  No experience is necessary!

You can download and print the audition form (or volunteer form) here:https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B2021zCN2EhCakpxVmFqQVhzbEU.  If you fill it out before you come out for auditions, it will expedite the process.

"The Actor’s Twilight Zone" will be performed at Windwalker Underground Galleries Friday through Sunday May 4th-6th, and also Friday through Sunday May 11-13.

Perusal scripts are available at the Charlotte Community Library, Delta Township District Library, and the Grand Ledge Area District Library. Please be prepared for cold reads during auditions.
