TRIAL PRACTICE ACTING GIG SPRING 2021!
Use your acting and improvisational skills, have fun, help students
and get paid at the same time!

RIVERWALK THEATRE and the MSU College of Law are looking for actors who are interested in playing jurors in mock trials for the MSU College of Law Trial Practice Institute.  Twelve (12) actors are needed There are 4 trials over the course of 2 days, each of which will have a jury of 3 people.  A $40 stipend will be paid for participation in this project.

This semester’s case is a criminal case - State v. Baker. Sarah Baker, the daughter of a billionaire international arms dealer, has been charged with the first-degree murder of her husband, Kelly Baker, a well-known Nita City television news anchor at station KNTA-TV. Sarah Baker has pleaded, “Not Guilty” and claims she acted in self-defense.

Due to the pandemic, the trials will be conducted with Zoom meetings. Jurors need to have the Zoom software/app installed on computer, tablet/IPad or smart phone. The free app/software is available for download at Zoom.com or from the app store for your device. There will be a brief Zoom orientation prior to the trials.

Jurors will play themselves. They will be present in the courtroom for the proceedings. They will then retire to the virtual jury room and deliberate on a verdict in accordance with the Judge’s instructions. Their deliberations will be watched by the student lawyers so they can understand how their handling of the case affected the outcome.

Important Dates:
*  The trials take place from 8:00 am to about 4pm on Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18.
Six jurors are needed each day. Each trial will have a jury of 3 jurors.

*  Zoom use orientation at 6pm on Wednesday evening, April 7.

We are looking for diversity among the jurors. (age, gender, ethnicity) If interested in being a juror, please contact Tom Ferris at mailto:tjferris49@gmail.com by Tuesday, April 6. Please include a selfie photo and indicate your availability for trial on Saturday, Sunday or either day.

Evolve Theatrics is pleased to announce auditions for their production of "Tomfoolery, with the Pandemic Players”.

This small cast production is a musical revue based upon the wild and wacky satirical music of Tom Lehrer. No subject matter is off limits in this fast paced show, including pornography, religion, pollution, racism, war, mathematics, and the Boy Scouts. Some of the songs included in this revue are: "I Got it From Agnes," "The Vatican Rag," "The Hunting Song," "The Elements," and "Smut".

Casting Requirements: we are casting a small ensemble of men and women who will perform as both soloists and in small group vocals, with scripted dialogue and "patter" tying the songs together. We will be looking for actors who are willing to embrace and embody the zaniness of Lehrer's music and lyrics. No prudes allowed!

Please send an email to: mailto:evolvetheatrics@gmail.com and we will provide you with  an audition form, rehearsal information, and information about the audition format. Prospective cast members must be ages 18 or older. Video submissions will be due by April 3, 2021.

This production will be rehearsed in both an online and in-person format. The production will be performed live and presented as a "Video on Demand" starting on June 25, 2021. In order to participate with our in-person rehearsals, cast members will need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Safety protocols will be followed for any in-person cast gatherings and we will revert to a strictly virtual rehearsal and production format, should anything change with respect to the virus safety requirements.

My name is Lilly and I'm an associate producer with a local video production company, Render Studios. We are looking to hire an actor for an upcoming project and your name came up when I was asking around for local talent. Could you pass along our casting call to your network?

Here are the details:
  • Male
  • Appearing to be about 35 years old
  • Wholesome / fatherly persona
  • Ethnically ambiguous / non-white
  • PAID Half-day of filming in Late March/Early April between the hours of 9a-5p (exact date TBD)
  • If you're interested please send a self-tape audition of the below script to lilly@renderstudios.com
    • "Hey, homeowners! {Name} here. Now that Spring is coming, some simple spring maintenance tips can help keep your home systems safe and working for longer.
Today, we're talking about your HVAC and air conditioner. First, you want to remove the cover from your air conditioning unit, clean up the debris and check for damage. Looks pretty good! Let's head into the basement.
In this case, the HVAC unit also has a humidifier that gets used in the winter to keep the air moist. Now that it's spring, we can turn that off and pull the filter out for cleaning.

Speaking of filters, we can also replace the air filter. Now your HVAC is ready for Spring! Make sure to like and follow for more tips coming soon!"
Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else from me. Hopefully you can help us out! We'd love to support local talent with this project.

Thanks,
Lilly Conklin
