Butterflies Are Free Auditions for Starlight Dinner Theatre - no roles precast

10/24/2013

11/8-9 - Linda Granger will be directing "Butterflies are Free" for Starlight.  Show dates March 7,8, 14 & 15, 2014.  Auditions are Fri at 7 and Sat at 2 pm November 8 and 9 at Rising Star Studio of Dance Arts, 526 Lentz Court off of W. St. Joe, approximately 1/2 mile east of the Waverly Road and W. St. Joe intersection (where Home Depot and Value City are). On the corner of Lentz Court and W. St. Joe is a small UAW hall, and if you get to the Bingo hall and Rosemary Street, you went too far. Once you turn onto Lentz Court, it is the fifth building on the left.

There are 4 roles in the show.  None of the roles has been precast. In the original production in 1969 Eileen Heckart played the mother.  She went on to reprise the role in the movie also starring Goldie Hawn.  Eileen won an Academy Award for her performance.

We will not start rehearsals until after the holidays.  We will rehearse 4 nights a week probably with Wed off depending on the cast's commitments.

Don Baker (Lead Role) - 20's - 30's - Don is blind and a singer/songwriter.  He plays the guitar in the show, so knowing how to play the guitar is a big plus, but not necessary.  He is neat, lean and good-looking.

Jill Tanner (Lead Role) 20's - 30's.  Free spirit of the late 60's.  Don's neighbor and his love interest. We cannot cast anyone under 18 in this role.

Mrs. Baker (Supporting Role) (50's - 70's) Mrs. Baker is Don's mother - prim, proper, business woman, dressed impeccably.  Very overly protective of her son and resentful of him moving out on his own.

Ralph Austin - (Minor Role) (20's - 40's)  Sleazy, small time director.

Please feel free to email [email protected] for a copy of the script and with any questions.

TechSmith is still looking for actors for their commercial.

10/22/2013

They''ve had a few applicants, but want to make sure they get a good selection to choose from, so they can get the right people.

TechSmith is a Mid-Michigan based software development company shooting a commercial (not a corporate video). This piece will about the day in the life of a family using technology. This is a paid opportunity.
Male: 35 – 45, White, White-collar, IT professional
Female: 35 – 45, White, business professional, classy,
Boy: 11 – 14, White, middle school student

Please send headshot, resume, and contact information. No phone calls. If you don't have professional head shots, that's okay, but we would like a picture. The actors will be representing a family, and we want to make sure the actors look like a family. [email protected].
Matt Pierce says:

The commitment is flexible. We are probably going to look at a Saturday shoot. We're sort of doing a day-in-the-life style. But some of it is flexible, we'd work around schedules as much as we could.

As for pay, we're not totally set on amount. If we do a few short shoots, vs. a full day it sort of depends on the involvement. (We're new at this part of the creation process, and still figuring out all the details).
