The June Audio Air Force show will present theWestern Night, featuring the radio versions of the classic westerns "Gunsmoke" and"The Lone Ranger”.
Both of these shows will feature the very first time these were presented to a national audience on the radio. For example,if you are familiar with the iconic characters in Gunsmoke, this was before the character of Miss Kitty was added to the story.
Of interest to us in Michigan about The Lone Ranger is that it was originally written, produced and presented within radio station WXYZ in Detroit and broadcast to the nation. Other popular programs would also originate from these studios such as The Challenge of the Yukon and The Green Hornet. The Audio Air Force will present the very first show of The Lone Ranger from the original script written and produced in 1933.
The Audio Air Force presents original and classic audio and radio theater programs live on stage, with actors, music and a live sound effects crew telling the story. The rehearsals will be at the Downeaster Theatre, 1105 N.
