"It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily-clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip—and themselves—before it's too late? ” that channels “every totally rad ‘80s cliché in the book, riding high on nostalgia and hairspray.”

This large cast musical is a feel-good parody of the 1980's and should not be confused/compared with the movie version. "Don't Stop Believin" that you can be a cast member in this premiere production. We "can't fight this feeling" that this will be our best show yet and we want YOU to be part of the fun! The Blue Light Players are pleased to announce auditions for their production of "Rock of Ages", a show fresh off Broadway. “Rock of Ages” closed on Broadway in January 2015, after a six-year, 2,328-performance run (tying it with “Man of La Mancha” as Broadway’s 27th-longest-running-show). Nominated for five Tony Awards, “Rock of Ages” is a rock/jukebox musical built around classic rock hits from the 1980s, including hits by Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and Steve Perry.  Broadway.com called the show “a high-energy dive into a living, breathing music video” that channels “every totally rad ‘80s cliché in the book, riding high on nostalgia and hairspray." The Blue Light Players are thrilled to be one of the first community theater groups in Michigan to produce Rock of Ages!

 Actors of all ages are urged to audition for this production. This production requires a large cast, spanning many age ranges. We will be casting a child, teen/college and adult ensemble in addition to the named roles. There are also non-singing roles available. We will be casting both singers and/or dancers in the ensemble. While the ability to both sing and dance would be great, please consider auditioning if just singing or dancing is your strength! Dance skills are especially important for the teen/college ensemble members. Auditions will be held at the Delta Enrichment Center at 4538 Elizabeth Rd., Lansing (Delta Twp), MI 48917 on the following dates/times:
Sunday, September 21st, 3pm-5pm: Children Only
Sunday, September 21st, 6pm-9pm: Teens/Adults
Monday, September 22nd, 6pm-9pm: Teens/Adults

A Parent Meeting for prospective Child Cast Members will be held at 5pm on September 14th at the Delta Enrichment Center. The purpose of this meeting is to provide parents with detailed information about the audition and production process.
