7/30 - Thursday 6 pm Black Box Theatre (168 Gannon Building) AUDITIONS for Never Swim Alone by Daniel MacIvor, directed by Deb Keller. A stylish and razor-sharp satire as two men, friends scarred by a past event, engage in intense one-upmanship with a childhood ghost as referee. STARLIGHT AUDITIONS

8/17-18 - Starlight Dinner Theatre will be holding AUDITIONS for the classic comedy (nominated for Five Tony Awards this year), "You Can't Take it With You" on Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18, 7 pm at Unity Renaissance Church, 230 S Holmes St, Lansing 48912 (note Holmes St., not Holmes Road which is the one that intersects Cedar. Holmes St. is on the corner of Prospect and Holmes St. near Sparrow).

There are 7 women's roles, ages 20's to 60's and 9 men's roles of all ages, including 3 male walk-on roles. Show dates are April 22, 23, 29, 30 and May 1st. It will be directed by Diana Lett. We realize this is over spring break and are willing to work around a weeks vacation during the rehearsal period depending on the dates. No roles in this show have been precast. 8/23-24 - AUDITIONS for A Christmas Carol, family musical directed by Tom Ferris
This new adaptation by Tom Ferris adds music and humor to the classic story of Scrooge and the meaning of Christmas.
Auditions: Sun & Mon, August 23 & 24, 2015, at 7 pm
Production Dates: November 27-December 6, 2015 

Come prepared to read from the script and sing a song;  accompanist provided.

8/19-20 - Peppermint Creek Theatre Company is holding auditions for their 2014-15 season of shows.

Those interested in auditioning should come prepared to read from the scripts from this coming season (which will be provided at auditions). Auditonees will be seen on a first come, first seen basis, (no RSVP required)  and need only come to ONE NIGHT of auditions.  Auditionees are asked to bring a headshot and resume if possible, or photos can be taken at the audition.  

Auditions: 
DATES:  Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20, 2014
TIMES: 6 - 10pm.  
LOCATION: Miller Performing Arts Center, 6025 Curry Lane, Lansing MI, 48911  

Other details:
 - Most rehearsals during the season are held in the evenings.  Directors for each show will inform the cast regarding specific details. 
- Auditionees will be considered for the four plays included in the Peppermint Creek season: "Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, Parade, Dogfight, and Venus in Fur.
- those wishing to be considered for either musical should come prepared to sign a song in the style of the show, that shows your vocal range.  An accompanist will be provided.
- each auditonee will be seen for approx. 5 - 10 minutes.

• BRITT CRAIG A washed up reporter, often be found three sheets to the wind. Weaselly and desperate for his 'big break.' White Georgian.

• FRANKIE EPPS A charming and simple man, he is Mary's devoted friend. Playful and flirtatious. White Georgian. Male, 14-17 yrs old, Range: Bb2 - Bb4
• GOV. JOHN SLATON As the Governor of Georgia, he is highly concerned with public perception. Flirtatious and fun at times. Strives to maintain his values. White Southerner. Male, 35-45 yrs old, Range: Bb2 - F4
• HUGH DORSEY Atlanta's District Attorney. He is a devout Christian, who is brute and manipulative at times. Hungry for political success and recognition. White Georgian. Male, 35-45 yrs old, Range: B2 - F4
• JIM CONLEY A cleaning supervisor at National Pencil Factory. Secretly, he is a convict on the run. Pompous showman with a strong build. Black Georgian. Male, 20-30 yrs old, Range: D3 - Bb4
• JUDGE ROAN Serves as the Judge on the infamous trial. Motivated by bigotry and racism, he is dangerously committed to the ideals of the Confederacy. White Georgian. Male, 60-70 yrs old, Range: B2 - D4
• LEO FRANK - The tragic protagonist accused of murder. As National Pencil Factory Superintendent, Leo is neurotic and a serial pessimist. Though married to Lucielle, he is physically and emotionally displaced. A White  Jew from the North. Male, 25-35 yrs old, Range: Gb2 - F4
• LUCILLE FRANK Gentle and mousy, but resourceful and resilient. Despite her husband's feelings, she is a true Southerner through and through but can see through the deception. A White Jew from Georgia. Female, 21-28 yrs old, Range: E5 - G3
• MARY PHAGAN A factory worker at the National Pencil Factory who is murdered. She is very innocent but has moments of sassiness and playfulness. White Georgian. Female, 13 yrs old, Range: Eb4 - D5
• NEWT LEE He is the night watchman at National Pencil Factory. A bit too old to possess the job. Physically intimidating, but a gentle giant. Black Georgian. Male, 50-60 yrs old, Range: Bb2 - Db4

• BOLAND A Marine private first class and Birdlace's closest friend. A poor Southern cad, he is the most vocal supporter of the dogfight and fairly crude in his behavior and language. Male, 18-25 yrs old, Range: B2 - B4
• EDDIE BIRDLACE A Marine private first class. He is well respected and a natural leader amongst his comrades. Initially a hothead; a cocky smooth talker. He eventually sheds his brash exterior when he falls for Rose. Male, 18-25 yrs old, Range: A2 - A4
• MAMA The owner of the local diner. She is unamused by the Marines' antics and protective of her daughter, Rose. Female, 40-50 yrs old, Speaking Role
• MARCY Boland's date for the dogfight. She is a nearly toothless and homely prostitute. Crass and brash, but sneaky and cunning. Female, 25-35 yrs old, Range: F#3 - Eb5
• ROSE FENNY A diner waitress who dreams of life as a musician. She is a naturally shy girl, naive of the world around her. Becomes smitten with Birdlace and discovers a lot about her self-respect and confidence along the way. Female, 18-21 yrs old, Range: G3 - E5

7/26-27 - Peppermint Creek Theatre Company announces “special auditions” to be held for the live stage production of, “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo”, written by Rajiv Joseph, and directed by Michael Hays.

ABOUT THE PLAY:

“The lives of two American Marines and an Iraqi translator are forever changed by an encounter with a quick-witted tiger who haunts the streets of war-torn Baghdad attempting to find meaning, forgiveness and redemption amidst the city’s ruins. Rajiv Joseph’s groundbreaking play explores both the power and the perils of human nature.”

“Set in the chaotic first days of the American invasion of Iraq, this boldly imagined, harrowing and surprisingly funny dram considers the long afterlife of violent acts, as well as the impenetrable mysteries of the afterlife itself.” –The New York Times

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Tiger—Tiger wears clothes. Nothing feline about him. The Tiger can be any age, although ideally he is older, scrappy, past his prime, yet still tough. He can be any race except Middle-Eastern. His language is loose, casual; his profanity is second nature.

Tom—American soldier. Early 20s to early 30s.

Kev—American soldier. Early 20s to early 30s.

Musa—Iraqi, 30s.

Uday Hussein/Iraqi Man—Iraqi, 30s.

Iraqi Woman/Leper

Hadia/Iraqi Teenager

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We ask that anyone auditioning be very familiar with the script. Sides of the script will be provided at the auditions. It is not necessary to use any dialects at the auditions, although individuals are welcome to make the attempt.
