8/23-26 - The Downeaster Theatre (TDT) will be holding open auditions for its upcoming fall productions of “Romeo and Juliet” for youth and “Fall in New York” for adults Aug. 23-26.
“Romeo and Juliet” is the classic tale of star-crossed lovers meeting, and their feuding families clashing, with tragic results. Witten by William Shakespeare.
“Fall in New York” is the story of one couple and four possible outcomes for their romance. Written for one 20s-30s male (ideally one who plays a musical instrument) and one 20s-30s female by Lansing native Kathryn Willis.
Youth ages 8-18 can audition for a part in “Romeo and Juliet”, and adults ages 18 and up for a part in “Fall in New York” on Thurs., Aug. 23, Fri., Aug. 24, and Sun. Aug. 26 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. or Sat., Aug. 25 from 10 a.m.-noon at The Downeaster Theatre, 1120 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Lansing, MI. Those auditioning need only to attend one of the audition sessions. Those interested can also sign up to volunteer backstage for this production (i.e. makeup, costumes, box office, etc.). For those youth preparing to audition, TDT will be hosting an audition workshop on Thurs., Aug. 23 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $5.
“This season – All’s Fair in Love – is going to be a blast at The Downeaster, and we are kicking it off with a classing star-crossed lovers story with a modern twist, and a bit of a choose-your-own-adventure romance,” said Executive Artistic Director, Kathryn Willis.
