Call today: Downeaster’s Laramie Project needs MEN.

The Downeaster Theatre Company
1120 N Pennsylvania Ave, near Old Town 

New theatre group The Downeaster, is looking for 4 male actors 18+ to round out our production of The Laramie Project. Actors will play various roles in this play dealing with a town’s reaction to Matthew Shepard’s death, a gay hate crime — revealing the depths and heights of human cruelty and compassion.

Downeaster will be performing a portion of the show next month at The Renegade Theatre Festival, and the full show will go up in Oct.

It’s the most important day of the year for the Gurley family – the Spartans and Wolverines face off! This year, however, their annual TV football ritual is interrupted by a mysterious woman who turns their world upside down. A hilarious and touching look at one family’s efforts to transcend the past and embrace the future.

JOHNNY: 33, Oldest of Neva’s grown “children “
WAYNE: 31, Second oldest son
MARION: 29, Neva’s only daughter
DUKE: 27, The youngest of the four 
ERIN: 27, The girlfriend of Wayne.
Auditioners are encouraged to read the script in advance and be prepared to read from it. (Note that the script

8/9-10 - Starlight Dinner Theatre seeking young actors for One Slight Hitch

Starlight Dinner Theatre will be holding auditions for "One Slight Hitch" a comedy by Lewis Black on Wednesday, August 9th and Thursday, August 10th at 7 pm. Location: Rising Star Studio of Dance Arts, 211 S. Bridge Street, downtown DeWitt north of the bridge located behind Jon E. Arendsen Designs. 

Show dates are May 4, 5 & 6 and May 11 & 12, 2018. The show will be directed by award-winning director, Mona Gille (see short bio below)

CHARACTERS:
Ryan - early 30's. Until 7 months ago, he had lived with Courtney for 2 1/2 years. Free spirit, day dreamer, under achiever, Jack Sparrow/Hippy

Harper (male) - early 30's. Logical and wealthy. Engaged to Courtney. Sweet, kind, attentive, anal, considerate. "Ken" to Courtney's "Barbie"

3 sisters:
P.B. (female) 16 years old. Loosest in family. 

Melanie - 20's, nurse, attractive and psychotic. Wild child, likes to drink and flirt - party girl.

Courtney - 20's - 30's Freelance writer. Has just published her first novel which was almost successful. "Barbie" to Harper's "Ken".

Mona has directed at Lansing Civic Players and Riverwalk Theatre. Shows directed are The Rainmaker, Wait Until Dark, Lost in Yonkers, The Lion in Winter (Thespie Award - Director), Heaven Can Wait, The Secret Garden, Da, The Diary of Anne Frank, Steel Magnolias (Thespie Award - Director).
