Audio Air Force is searching for someone to audition/coordinate the musical portion for the radio version of “Meet Me in St Louis”. This person will work with those actors who have singing parts in the production.
Audio Air Force produces audio theater live on stage at the Hannah Center in East Lansing. The productions are either recreations of classic radio shows, or new, original scripts written specifically for audio. The “Meet Me in St Louis” production was originally produced on network radio in 1947 to help promote a re-release of the movie musical. We will be using the original script. The single performance is scheduled for December 8.
The play will be produced in December as a holiday show, as this play was where the song “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” had its debut. This is a slightly condensed version of the classic movie which featured, among others, Judy Garland. The songs are performed during the play similarly to how they appear in the movie - as a highlight to the dialog and storyline.
Here's a list of the songs that the radio version features:
"Meet Me in St. Louis"
"The Boy Next Door"
"I Was Drunk Last Night, Dear Mother"
"The Trolley Song"
"You and I"
"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
The show is scheduled for Dec. 8. Being an audio production, there is no need for stage actions, costumes or makeup.
We are looking for someone to audition of those actors who will be singing and coordinate with the director/actors for rehearsing the songs. Audio Air Force has someone who can play keyboard, unless other arrangements are made.
Singing rehearsals will be scheduled separately from the rehearsals that happen with the entire cast and sound effects crew (to be determined according to availability of the schedules of those involved). The rehearsals for singing will be the week before the full cast rehearsals begin.
