It was a treat to see this collection of some of Lansing’s funniest actors: Laura Croff covered a wi-i-ide spectrum of emotions and gyrations on her way through an ambitiously doomed dinner party. Sally Hecksel was her manipulative, money grubbing “caterer” daughter, well displayed as a sexpot distraction to the guest of honor, Chuck Sartorius, pickle magnate, who was wittingly/unwittingly foiling the ambitions of the perspirational/aspirational/off-the-rails powerhouse of the show Micheal Hays. Chris Goeckel put the “tropical” in pickle doubling as an inconvenient “corpse.” Rachel Mender was Charles’ mostly appalled/hysterical date, and Heath Sartorius was adorably stupid and charming as the Sally's boyfriend/faux French waiter.
Over the Ledge’s The Tropical Pickle continues at The Ledges Playhouse in Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge through August 13 (8 pm Thu/FriSat & 2pm Sun). As always, dress for the weather, as the theatre is not air conditioned, and feel free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks that CAN be brought into the theatre. You might even want to come early for a picnic in the beautiful park.
