Tony Caselli directed this drama with five actors and the additional “character” of the newscast announcements illustrated by dramatic projections (by Allison Dobbins) as the backdrop for a very efficient “transformer” set that flip-folded from factory floor to kitchen table (by Bartley Bauer).
Sarah Donaher and Karen Sheridan were distinct and versatile playing multiple small roles. Casaundra Freeman was the anchor character as Tanya, a tough mom working in a weapons factory near Detroit, plotting escape for herself and her son Clark to, where else? International Falls. Clark (played by jøn kent) was an endearing young man at a crossroads in life… and “J”, played by Heather Mahoney, was the wild card that challenged everyone’s perceptions.
900 MILES TO INTERNATIONAL FALLS continues at Williamston Theatre through March 1
