One character debates what to do with video evidence of a possible rape at a party, and we are barraged by the chaotic, self-serving and often conflicting opinions about “the right thing to do” — all influenced by assorted social pressures, relationships and uncertainties.
This is a complex play that raises more questions than it answers — and is sure to fuel conversation/debate on the drive home. We were privileged to have happened upon one of the Saturday shows which included a talkback with Janet Mason and Pam Davis, representatives from LCC’s Counseling/Human Services department. The varied responses of audience members enhanced the probably unresolvable debate presented by the production. Next Saturday Abby Nelson will lead the Q&A.
Director Deb Keller’s poetic director’s note is a work of art, in itself, railing at the unanswerable questions and confusions and contexts of the “human condition conundrum” and calling for compassion.
This is a well done and provocative theatre piece. A card/insert with a detailed list of Resources to deal with sexual assault etc. is included with the program.
Student Body continues next Friday/Saturday at 8 and Sunday the 24th at 2pm at Dart Auditorium, 500 North Capitol.
