Director Garrett Bradley and his team have another hit on their hands. Outstanding sets, choreography, costumes (and BOOTS), and 11- piece orchestra led by Jillian Boots. Lebowsky production values are consistently top notch.
This show is further uplifted by its strong leads. The ever-excellent Adam Woolsey as Charlie, brings his stellar voice and acting chops to the troubled son “stuck” with his father’s failing shoe company and an incompatible fiancée, the talented Mary Catherine Maurer. Grace Rosen is perfectly adorable as the potential alternative.
But the undisputed star is Justin Rivers as Lola. Not only is he a glittering, glamorous, graceful, powerful drag queen with a killer voice — he also brings real depth and sincerity to the emotionally vulnerable parts of the show.
The impressive “Angels,” back-up drag dancers — Frankie Kevin, Brock Ritter, Lloyd Rock and Evan Russ —and the entire ensemble of shoe factory workers round out an outstanding cast.
This is, indeed, "a huge-hearted, high-heeled hit!" Definitely worth the drive to Owosso — Kinky Boots continues through September 18.
