This assortment of new works was submitted by writers from across the countr and a couple locals:
“Words Are Useless” by Jeff Dunne directed by Heath Sartorius, featured probably the only raccoon debate you’ve ever seen onstage; "The Secret of Jarlsberg” by Arthur M. Jolly directed by Ian Whipp showed us a clash of frugality versus gourmet excess, but is it really about the fondue? “Don’t Put the Carrots in the Oubliette” by Adam Carlson directed by Colton Bennett was a charmingly surreal venture into a wormhole between vegetable drawer and backpack.
“Together or Separate” by O.G. Ueberroth directed by Judy Evans was one of my favorite scripts, thoroughly raveling and unraveling a web of dating expectations. “By the Neon Lights of the Taco Bell Sign” by Monica Cross directed by Nick Lemmer, was taco-surreal journey to inner peace through "crunch wrap supreme" awareness. “Misfortune” by Mark Harvey Levine directed by Drew Cook was another favorite with Hitchkockian suspense building over some disturbing fortune cookies.
The talented and versatile ensemble cast for Let’s Eat included: Jesse Frawley, Ben Guenther, Richard Kopitsch, Storm Kopitsch, Sarah Lynn, Holly Sleight-Engler, Jillian Tosolt, and Kris Vitols.
Our one difficulty (despite Heath’s helpful(?) Facebook video) was FINDING the theatre inside Lansing Mall. (It is NOT the old Tequila Cowboy where Ixion performed before.) Allow a little time for wandering. After some discussion with other knowledgeable participants, my advice is: Enter the front of the mall near the Lens Crafters sign, then turn right at the “crossroads”- and note that Ixion is directly across from Journey and next to Torrid. There are directional signs for those stores throughout the mall.
Let’s Eat continues Saturday, May 14, and May 20-21 at 8 pm - Tickets are $15 at the door. For more information, call 517.775.4246 or email ixionensemble@gmail.com
