This is an intense show with a tour de force performance by Brenda Lane as a woman trying to “get her story straight.” Mental illness, memory, loss, relationships… there’s a lot of meat in this sandwich. Brenda is outstanding in the central role of Kathy, aided by the earnest Steve Wojtas as Quinn and the touching John Lepard as Todd — all directed by Shannon Wojtas.
As always at Williamston Theatre, the production values are excellent. Since all seats are relatively up-close-and-personal the set details of Kathy’s apartment and special effects are subject to close scrutiny — and pass that test.
In the lobby afterward, Development Director Emily Sutton-Smith mentioned that this is the kind of show they slot in the winter, when audiences may be smaller but perhaps more fully committed to Theatre as an art form, as evidenced by their willingness to brave the cold/snow to attend — and they can appreciate shows like this which are more than “just entertainment.” If you are one of those audience members, don’t miss this one!
To Quiet the Quiet continues through February 24.
