Postseasons Productions, a Michigan-based theater company, has an exciting PAID audition announcement for actors in the Lansing area.
The show is called The Dinner Detective, and it is an interactive murder mystery dinner show.
My name is Michelle Drake and I am the location manager for our new Lansing location. I am tasked with building up the cast, so I’m reaching out to theaters in the East Lansing and Greater Lansing areas who might be interested in sharing this opportunity with their cast members.
Dinner Detective is different from your standard dinner theater show in that several actors are planted among the audience. It’s as if they, too, are just enjoying a night out on the town and
couldn’t possibly be involved with the tomfoolery in front of them. Upon entry, everyone in the audience makes up a “code name” to go by for the duration of the performance. Once the
murder takes place, two detectives lock down the dining room to solve the mystery. The real audience helps the detectives figure out who among them is the killer, who isn’t being truthful
(i.e. an actor), and who is an innocent audience member. If played well, an actor may not be suspected of being part of the show at all.
We are searching for actors who enjoy improv, physical comedy, and diverting suspicion. The show is scripted, but improv experience is desirable. Some characters are boisterous and
cartoonish - obviously part of the show - while others are meant to blend into the audience and avoid suspicion. We have four different murder mystery shows that we rotate through depending on the season, and cast members are encouraged to learn multiple roles to accommodate for availability.
To get involved, request more information mailto:[email protected] and someone from our production team will be in touch!
