The Rocky Horror Show

Performances: October 19-21 & 26-28 (This show will have 2 performances on Fridays and Saturdays. No shows on Sundays.)

Synopsis:
In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad and Janet, are stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters, including a rocking biker and a creepy butler. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest creation: a muscular man named "Rocky."

(Due to the adult themes and nature of the material, auditions for Rocky Horror will be 18+ years of age. Please be advised that the characters Brad, Janet, Frank, and Rocky will see blocking, lines and costumes of a more intimate and revealing nature, and as such, anyone auditioning for these roles should be aware of this. An Intimacy Coordinator is working with the show to ensure comfort, safety and respect at all times. The directors strongly advise reviewing the script prior to auditions to ensure you are comfortable with the role for which you are auditioning.)

Characters:
 
Brad Majors-  GENDER: Male,   PART SIZE: Lead,   VOCAL PART: Tenor, Baritone
An All-American hero-type who proposes to his girlfriend Janet Weiss. He pretends to be brave and charming in front of Janet, but willingly betrays her with Frank.


Janet Weiss-  GENDER: Female  PART SIZE: Lead  VOCAL PART: Mezzo-Soprano
Janet is a normal girl who wishes to marry the love of her life Brad, but at the castle has a moment of awakening of her identity, finding freedom in expressing herself and freeing herself from the norm.


Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter- GENDER: Any  PART SIZE: Lead  VOCAL PART: Baritone
Dr. Frank-N-Furter is the parody of a mad scientist, more specifically of Dr. Frankenstein. Frank introduces themselves as the sweet transsexual of Transylvania. They have everyone in the castle under their influence and control. They are comfortable in their skin and sexuality, and are on a mission to create life out of death.


Riff Raff-   GENDER: Any  PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Tenor
Riff Raff is the creepy butler version of the castle. They are Frank’s servant, and Frank goes even as far as physically abusing them. Riff Raff reveals themselves to be an alien from the planet Transsexual at the end and kills Frank for failing their mission.


Columbia - GENDER: Female  PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Mezzo-Soprano
Columbia is a groupie of Dr. Frank N. Furter. Her flair and schoolgirl crush for a former creation of the doctor, Eddie, give her charming and tragic moments in the show.


Rocky Horror- GENDER: Male  PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Tenor
Rocky Horror is Frank’s creation, their version of a Frankenstein’s monster. Rocky is a physically perfect form of a male specimen created for his pleasure. Nevertheless, he isn’t devoid of intelligence or emotions, even killing himself after his creator dies.


Eddie-  GENDER: Male  PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Baritone
Boyfriend and failed science experiment of Frank. He has a showstopping number before meeting his doom.


Dr. Everett Scott  -GENDER: Male  PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Baritone
Dr. Scott acts as the driving force behind Brad and Janet’s relationship, as we find out they met each other sitting in his class in one of the opening songs, ”Dammit Janet.” We also find out later that Dr. Scott is a rival scientist of Franks and is now working for the government on secret UFO projects.


Magenta - GENDER: Any   PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Mezzo-Soprano, Alto
Magenta is the maid of the castle and sibling of Riff Raff. They have a dastardly turn toward antagonist during the course of the show.


The Narrator - GENDER: Any   PART SIZE: Supporting  VOCAL PART: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Bass
The Narrator helps to keep the story on track with a quick quip or two and even shows off a dance move or two during “Time Warp.”


Trixie the Usherette- GENDER: Female  PART SIZE: Featured  VOCAL PART: Mezzo-Soprano
Opens the show with the song “Science Fiction” and acts as guide and chorus for audience participation.
Phantoms / Transylvanians - GENDER: Any  PART SIZE: Ensemble  VOCAL PART: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Bass

Chorus/ensemble for show with variety of parts throughout, most notably as groupies in Frank’s castle 
 
Please prepare a song selection from The Rocky Horror Show. Your song selection should be from a song featuring the primary character you wish to audition for. Come prepared to read from the script. Synopsis:
​Sherri Rosen-Mason is head of the admissions department at a New England prep school, fighting to diversify the student body. Alongside her husband, the school’s headmaster, they’ve largely succeeded in bringing a stodgy institution into the twenty-first century. But when their only son sets his sights on an Ivy League university, personal ambition collides with progressive values, with convulsive results. A no-holds-barred look at privilege, power, and the perils of hypocrisy.
Those who audition will read from the play and all are strongly encouraged to read the play before auditioning. Perusal copies are available from the theatre office. Office open 10am-4:30 pm, Tuesday - Friday. (517-482-5700)

Characters:
Sherri Rosen-Mason: 45-55, very liberal secular Jewish woman, Head of Admissions for Hillcrest.
Bill Manson: 45-55, very liberal WASP, Sherri's husband and Headmaster of Hillcrest.
Charlie Luther Manson: Sherri and Bill's son, a senior at Hillcrest.
Ginnie Peters: 45-55, very liberal WASP, stay-at-home mom. Her son is Charlie's best friend.
Roberta: 65+, white, long time employee in the Development Department at Hillcrest.

NOTE: The dialogue in this play contains strong adult language, including the teenage character, "Charlie." Please do not audition if you object to using adult language on stage.

Auditions for Audio Air Force

​Audio Air Force presents what is known as 'audio theater', or radio drama. The group performs recreations of classic radio programs as well as original scripts. 
It's the ideal venue for actors who want to display their talents in a radio-show format, with script in hand, and only one week of rehearsals

AAF will present the classic comedy of Firesign Theatre with the "Adventures of Nick Danger". This is a spoof of detective noir films originally written and performed on record by the comedy team known as Firesign Theatre. There will be other short, original scripts written by and for the Audio Air Force performed as well. 

The performance will be live, on stage at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing. 
Auditions and rehearsals will take place at the Edgewood United Church, 469 N. Hagadorn, East Lansing - according to the following schedule:

Auditions - July 10 & 11 - 7-9pm
Rehearsals - July 13,14 and then 17, 18, 19,20,21, 6:30-9pm

Performance - Sat., July 22 at 7pm @ Hannah Community Center, East Lansing

Peppermint Creek Theatre’s 2023-24 season, will open with the dark comedy "The Minutes" by Tracy Letts and directed by Mary Job. 

Auditions for "The Minutes" will be held Monday and Tuesday June 26 & 27, 2023 (Rehearsals begin July 24) at Sycamore Creek Church, 1919 S. Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48910 from 7 – 10pm. Actors will be given cold readings from the script, which will be provided at auditions. Auditions are open to anyone.
