There are 4 roles in the show. None of the roles has been precast. In the original production in 1969 Eileen Heckart played the mother. She went on to reprise the role in the movie also starring Goldie Hawn. Eileen won an Academy Award for her performance.
We will not start rehearsals until after the holidays. We will rehearse 4 nights a week probably with Wed off depending on the cast's commitments.
Don Baker (Lead Role) - 20's - 30's - Don is blind and a singer/songwriter. He plays the guitar in the show, so knowing how to play the guitar is a big plus, but not necessary. He is neat, lean and good-looking.
Jill Tanner (Lead Role) 20's - 30's. Free spirit of the late 60's. Don's neighbor and his love interest. We cannot cast anyone under 18 in this role.
Mrs. Baker (Supporting Role) (50's - 70's) Mrs. Baker is Don's mother - prim, proper, business woman, dressed impeccably. Very overly protective of her son and resentful of him moving out on his own.
Ralph Austin - (Minor Role) (20's - 40's) Sleazy, small time director.
