8/5-6 - Homegrown Productions invites you to audition for “God’s Favorite” – a comedy by Neil Simon, directed by Tom Webb. Performances are September 27 – October 5. Auditions are August 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. at the Wilson Center Auditorium, 101 W. Cass St., St. Johns. This show will be the unveiling of our new lighting system, so the effects will be heavenly J.
Successful Long Island businessman Joe Benjamin is a modern-day 'Job' with a demanding wife, ungrateful children, and wise-cracking household employees. Just when it seems things couldn't get any worse, he is visited by Sidney Lipton, a.k.a. A Messenger from God (and compulsive film buff) with a mission: test Joe's faith and report back to "the Boss." Joe's spoiled and ungrateful son, Sarah's twin-brother, not too bright.
Sarah Benjamin (Supporting): Female, mid-20s
Joe's daughter and Ben's twin-sister, like him in every way, including a lack of smarts, petulant and bad at keeping her robe closed.
Sidney Lipton (Supporting): Male, 30 - 70
A messenger from God, on a mission to test Joe and report back to "the Boss," a compulsive film buff.
Mady (Supporting): Female, 40+
Humorously cynical, a wisecracking maid.
Morris (Supporting): Male, 40+
The butler, wisecracking and wise.
David Benjamin (Supporting): Male, 30-35
The “prodigal son” possessing sweetness, goofiness, and obvious inebriation.
