PLAY SYNOPSIS
When the tiny seaside resort of Inish decides to upgrade the quality of its summer entertainment by promoting the socially conscious drama of Ibsen, Strindberg, and other modern heavyweights, residents and visitors alike are enthralled. That is, until everyone started channeling their inner modern demons! Unrequited love, seduction of innocents, spendthrift ways, murderous impulses-- all the secrets of this sedate backwater are exposed, leading to comic mayhem, and the ultimate existential question -- just how much transformation can one little town take?
AVAILABLE ROLES
EDDIE TWOHIG –Mid 20’s, A pleasant & carefree young man no one takes seriously, including himself – until he starts channeling his inner tragic hero.
CHRISTINE LAMBERT –Mid 20’s. An independent young woman. The object of Eddie’s affections, she is in absolutely no hurry to settle down.
HELENA–Early 20’s - A maidservant at the Seaview Hotel. A sweet girl with a scandalous secret.
MICHAEL–Early 20’s – the “boots”, a handyman employed by the Seaview Hotel, an ordinary bloke with a surprising passion for theatre.
HEGARTY –late 20’s – 30’s (M or F) A brash freelance reporter out to uncover Inish’s secrets.
TOM MOONEY–50’s +. The town constable. A steady presence suddenly beset by suicide and murder attempts.
SLATTERY—40’s. (M or F) A browbeaten bachelor or spinster seeking to purchase weed-killer, or maybe rat poison. Lives with an overbearing relative
PLEASE PREPARE A MONOLOGUE (OF ANY TYPE), 1-2 MINUTES IN LENGTH FOR AUDITIONS. There will also be readings from the script. Please note that, Irish accents are not required for auditions, but are encouraged.
