7/19-21 - Hello, I am an Assistant Producer of a storytelling production called "This is my Brave," a show about what it's like to live through mental illness and come out on the other side.
As you know, the emotions from experiencing mental illness first-hand are raw, excruciating, thrilling, inspiring and so much more. We’re seeking members of the community who have a talent in writing essays, poetry, comedy, music (etc) and are ready to share their story of living a successful life despite having experienced a mental health issue.
You can learn more about the organization that leads these productions here: https://thisismybrave.org/
If this sounds like something you would support, please join the effort in spreading the word! Our production opens on November 11th in the Passant Theatre at the Wharton Center. Auditions are at the East Lansing Public Library on July 19, 20, and 21 at various times (see the attached flyer and link below for specifics).

Interested in performing, but not sure what to prepare? Be creative in expressing your story! Here are some ideas:
- Sing/play an original song
- Rap
- Play an instrument
- Recite a poem
- Read a narrative, monologue, or story
- Give a mini "ted talk"
- Dance
- Do a "show and tell" (bring your art, meaningful object, slideshow, etc.)
- Perform a comedy routine
- Bring friends---you don't have to do this alone!
- Make a movie/video
If you have any questions or concerns, I am happy to answer them. Please let me know if you are interested and able to help.
With gratitude,
-Katrina Robinson-Tokarski
