Here's a rare opportunity to audition for a RWT Black Box show
Fool For Love
Award-Winning Drama by Sam Shepard
Directed by Ronald Auther
Auditions: Sunday & Monday,
March 19 & 20, 7 pm, at Riverwalk
Shows: May 12-21, 2017
The Mojave Desert holds many secrets. Some of them should never be told. In this 1984 multi-Obie award winning drama, May and Eddie find themselves intertwined in an incestuous relationship with no clear beginning or end. Their lives are plagued by continued deadly cycles incited by heavy drinking, forbidden love, and inevitably, abandonment.
MAY: Early 20’s to late 20’s. Woman-child, immature for her age. Determined to survive at all cost. Conflicted relationships gravitate in her direction. Binge drinker, conflicted emotions. Consumed by the emotion of love. Lives in denial. Craves stability, affection, independence, and self-empowerment.
EDDIE: Early 20’s to late 20’s. Brooding dreamer. Binge drinker. Transient cowboy. Confused by his painful relationships, uncertain, chaotic. Extremely macho, and lives according to the “Cowboy way.” Hypercritical of people he meets, he’s the world’s biggest hypocrite when it comes to his own life.
MARTIN: Late 20’s to early 30’s. Totally inept about the intricacies involved in love affairs and relationships. Hardworking handyman, whose overall size is very imposing. Audience to May and Eddie’s volatile relationship.
The OLD MAN: Late 50’s to early 60’s, Apparition. A loner, dreamer, binge drinker, fantasist. Runs from the deeper meaning of things. Represents the past, present, and future. He can ‘spin a yarn’ in the direction he needs to go. Former adrenaline junkie who’s aged poorly. Lived his entire life without taking responsibility for the consequences of his actions.
