Okay, this isn't "theater"  but I want to support our remarkable friend with ALS, Dr. Craig Oster,  to learn more about him go to  http://healingwithdrcraig.com/the-man/
He asks:

Please consider sharing my $8.00 ($80/night) Friday overnights position, East Lansing, MI area:

They can sleep during the night and wake to help me a few times with a urinal. Interested individuals can email me at drcraigoster@comcast.net for more information. The quality of my life is greatly influenced by having reliable, honest, kind and positive caregivers.

My current Friday overnight worker, a dentist from another country, has an offer to work Saturdays as a dental assistant.

Peace and gratitude,
Craig

ONE WEEKEND ONLY - The Blue Light Players are proud to present ALL SHOOK UP

2/19/2014

ONE WEEKEND ONLY - The Blue Light Players are proud to present ALL SHOOK UP, at the Hannah Center Auditorium In East Lansing on February 21st, 22nd and 23rd. A musical comedy featuring the unforgettable hits of Elvis Presley, ALL SHOOK UP is loosely based on William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night", and tells the story of a guitar playing roustabout, Chad, who rides into a struggling square Midwest town and changes it forever with the power of love and rock-and-roll. This whacky ‘50s styled musical is written by Tony Award-Winner, Joe DiPietro (writer of Memphis, Nice Work if You Can Get It, and I Love You You're Perfect, Now Change).

Featuring the classic hit songs "Heartbreak Hotel", "Burning Love", "Jailhouse Rock", "Blue Suede Shoes", "It's Now or Never", "Don't Be Cruel" and "Fools Rush In," ALL SHOOK UP is clever, fresh fun for all ages. This production features 35 talented cast members from the greater Lansing area and beyond. Like all Blue Light Players' productions, proceeds from the show will be donated to the families of fallen and critically injured Michigan police officers.

Tickets are $15/each. For more information and to order tickets, please visit:http://www.bluelightplayers.com/all-shook-up-the-musical.html

3.22-The Mid Michigan Family Theatre announces its next production, The Great Pirate Adventures

2/19/2014

3.22-The Mid Michigan Family Theatre announces its next production, The Great Pirate Adventures featuring two one-act plays, “Pirates!” and “Cap’n Hook”. The production runs Friday, February 21 through Sunday, March 1 with shows on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. The production will be presented at the Alfreda Schmidt Community Center which is located at 5825 Wise Road in south Lansing just north of Miller Road.
.
About the plays:

Pirates! - A friendly game of pirates becomes all too real when overzealous Theodore (Carson Lee) accidentally falls into a giant sinkhole and wakes up to find himself amongst real high sea swashbucklers. Before getting back to the real world, he is forced on an epic journey with his companion, Harriet the Ghost (Kristen Gibbons) in a quest to find the notorious pirate Weird Beard (Laura Brooks) and foil the mutinous Mr. Clunky Bones (Paul McDaniel). Will Theodore be able to save Captain Cramp Hand's (David Brooks) ship from falling into evil clutches and return to his friends in time for ice cream?

Cap’n Hook - Everyone's favorite pirate villain, Captain Hook (David Brooks), is a resident at The Jolly Roger Pirate Retirement Home, where he and his pals Blackbeard (Jim Bunn), Smee(Paul McDaniel), Anne Bonny (Melanie Bernard), and Captain Blood (Bill Altimore) spend their days reminiscing about high times on the high seas. Through a series of flashbacks played out on stage, Hook tells the hilarious and touching story of his trials and tribulations with his arch nemesis, Peter Pan (Mason Cordell) -- showing us Neverland from the pirates' point of view.

MSU Department of Theatre presents: Cyrano de Bergerac

2/15/2014

Adapted/translated by Edmund Rostand
Directed by Edward Daranyi

The classic romantic unrequited love story open(ed) appropriately on Valentine’s Day. (I did not get a press release on this; sorry to be tardy - Jane) The story of the nose-challenged poet who feeds his words of adoration through his handsome friend to the beautiful Roxanne is directed by Stratford Theatre Festival’s Edward Daranyi and stars MSU faculty member, Mark Colson.
Unofficial "reviewers" Bill and Lee Helder report that the show is WONderful -- as is the newly remodeled Fairchild Theatre. They add that it runs long, but is worth your time.
