You don't have to be on stage to find a role for yourself at Riverwalk Theatre. Owosso Seeks Directors

Owosso Calls for Directors for the 2017-2018 Season

The Owosso Community Players are seeking directors for two productions in the upcoming season.  All shows will be performed on the Lebowsky Center main stage.

Anyone interested in directing either of these plays should submit a letter of interest indicating any directing experience or other theatre knowledge to Garrett Bradley, OCP Artistic Director. Submissions for all shows may be sent via email [[email protected]] or brought directly to the OCP offices by Friday, August 11. Directors will receive a stipend.

First up will be Rabbit Hole, to be presented November 3-5 and 10-12.  This heartfelt drama explores the complexities of grief as a family deals with the aftermath of losing a child.  Written by David Lindsay-Abaire, the play premiered on Broadway in 2006 and was the recipient of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

A director is also sought for the spring production of  Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (performance dates April 20 -22 and 27-29).  This Tony award- winning comedy has been described as a “comedic mash-up” because playwright Christopher Durang mixes in bits from Anton Chekhov plays with his own farcical humor.

RWT Members Choose Musical

Riverwalk Theatre is excited to announce the inclusion of a third musical in our 30th season…

…and we want YOU- our members to have a voice in choosing it!
Balloting will begin in August, stay tuned for the survey link and exact dates (on Riverwalk’s Facebook page; have you “liked” us yet?) The poll will include shows that the Board of Directors has agreed would be great choices for the season. Voters will be given the opportunity to write in their own nomination if they have a more exciting option than those provided.

For 2017, we’ve expanded the Renegade Theatre Festival: geographically that is!

This year, we've addressed the space issue of this great growing Renegade by situating the second week of the fest, August 17-19, 2017, around town in five different neighborhoods, and everyone’s excited about it!

Failure: A Love Story

A magical, musical fable where the power of love chimes far greater than any individual's successes or failures. By the end of 1928, all three Fail sisters will be dead - expiring in reverse order, youngest to oldest. The same man will have fallen in love with each, in the same order as their passing. Tuneful songs and a whimsical chorus follow the sisters' story as they live their lives above the family clock repair shop, before their time unexpectedly runs out.

There are TWO new theatres in town!

The East Lansing Community Theatre performs in Hannah Center and focuses on Shakespeare and headed up by Mike Stewart. The Downeaster Theatre is based at 1120 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, 48906 - and headed up by Kathryn Willis. First show performs at The Robin Theatre in Reo Town.

East Lansing Community Theatre

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, Lend Me Your Ears! I am very Happy to Announce That The City of East Lansing has agreed to sponsor an Adult Theatre Company. This new Company will be called The East Lansing Community Theatre. Dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare!

We will be doing 2 productions a Year beginning with "The Tempest". The Audition dates are: Monday July 17th from 6:30 to 9pm. And Tuesday July 18th from 6:30 to 9pm. These Auditions will take place at The Hannah Community Center 819 Abbot rd. East Lansing, Michigan The East Lansing Community Promotes Non-Traditional Casting, Which means that all roles are open to anyone!

All rehearsals are at the Hannah Community Center and will begin on Monday July 24th and run Monday thru Thursday from 6:30 to 10pm until our Tech week which begins September 10th. With the first opening of the East Lansing Community Theatres production of The Tempest on Thursday September 14th thru Saturday September 16th. And again the following week Thursday September 21 thru Saturday September 23rd. Performance times begin at 7pm each of those nights. All performances are at the Hannah Community Center.

Our Second production Will be "12th Night". Auditions dates are: Sunday January 21st from 6:30 to 9pm and Monday January 22nd from 6:30 to 9pm. Rehearsals begin Monday January 29th and also run Monday thru Thursday 6:30 to 10pm . Until start of Tech week Sunday March 11th. Performances are March 15th thru 17th and again the following week March 22nd thru 24th. Performances begin at 7pm. All of the above held at the Hannah Community center.
For those of you that don't know me, my name is Michael Stewart Artistic Director of The East Lansing Community Theatre. I will also be Directing the First Show, The Tempest! I have over 40 years of experience in Live Theatre as an Actor, Director, Artistic Director, Lighting Design, Set Design and construction, etc.

The Director for our 2nd production is still TBD. I want to make it clear what it means by The Statement That the City of East Lansing is sponsoring This Theatre Company. The city is providing us with a place to rehearse and a Place to Perform and that is all! But I feel that is all we need! With all of your help and Talent I feel this Theatre Company Will thrive and Grow.

Tech Workshops at Riverwalk

Riverwalk Theatre offers Tech Workshops only $16

Riverwalk is offering Sound and Lighting Workshops: One series is for Youth (Ages 12 -18) The second series is for Adults (Ages 16 - 107.) Learn basic design and operation of our sound and/or lighting equipment. These workshops will help you to increase your skills to be able to work behind the scenes on future productions. (Minimum five / maximum twelve participants.)
