Aaaaah! The Holly Daze are rolling up fast! Make sure you plan to include some LIVE THEATRE into your schedule!

NOTE that Riverwalk Theatre will be making masks optional for audience, going forward - HOWEVER, they are maintaining Thursday Social Distancing Days where only half the seats are sold and masks ARE required — so if you are being extra Covid-careful, Thursdays are a good choice for Riverwalk’s Frog and Toad family musical.

EL Film Fest - Hoffmaster Documentary

10/23/2022

After some weird miscommunication/rescheduling, we have confirmed that the documentary on the life of local-theatre favorite Jim Hoffmaster (who left town over 20 years ago to “seek his fortune” in Los Angeles) will be THURSday November 10 at 6 and 9 pm at Studio C.

East Lansing Film Festival Presents

ACTING LIKE NOTHING IS WRONG
Directed by Jane Rosemont

90 min
The life of a movie star is not what you think it is. This personal, no-holds-barred portrait of the Hollywood character actor, Jim Hoffmaster, reveals
the ups and downs in his private and professional life. You might know him as Kermit in the hit Showtime series, Shameless. What you don’t know is that he had a turbulent, untethered upbringing. Director Rosemont and star, Jim Hoffmaster, are attending both screenings.
Showtimes
Thursday, November 10, 6:00 pm, Studio C - sold out
Thursday, November 10, 9:00 pm, Studio C
Tickets at:
https://celebrationcinema.com/showtimes/booking/012-76564#//tickets

Mark  and I will have an open house/party for Jim and Jane on Wednesday November 9. I THINK I sent particulars to all who knew Jim personally. If I missed you and you are interested in attending, reply to this email and I’ll get you the details.

Halloween Radio Show - Arsenic & Old Lace

10/23/2022

Lee Helder and I will be playing the murderously lovable old ladies in Audio Air Force’s Arsenic and Old Lace radio-show staged reading playing ONE SHOW ONLY — preceded by two NEW short subjects — this coming Friday, at 7 pm at East Lansing Hannah Center.

Audio Air Force originator Dave Downing is not in the best of health so forgive the not-updated website and thanks to Jim Coyer and Patti Spinner for making this Halloween Show happen.

Besides Lee and I, the cast includes AAF favorites Jeff Kennedy, Rachel Mender, Bob Robinson, Steve Ledyard, Frank Boston. Lee Flowers… and more!

Audio Air Force is a fun way to act without memorization and a long rehearsal schedule — a little radio nostalgia and theatre of the imagination — with sound effects!

Hoping to see many of you Friday. Tix $10 at the door, general admission.

Dark Nights in Billtown - staged reading series at Williamston Theatre
Monday, Oct 24, 2022 at 7pm
The Snatchening
By Jeremy Kareken

In this unsettlingly humorous tale, Miles returns from an extended stay at an inpatient psychiatric facility to find Becky, his ex-wife, troubled by their son's behavior. Seemingly overnight their son has become functional and compliant. As they and two therapists get involved, they become aware of a dangerous new psychiatric protocol that no one seems to have prescribed, and a malevolent entity that seeks to alter our humanity.  What will the fate of the planet be?

This reading will be held in-person at the Williamston Theatre! No reservations necessary. Suggested donation of $10 at the door.

A new musical by Katherine Dike about the most famous man in history.

"45 minutes of action-packed, combustible, musical fun! It flies by so fast and yet it feels embedded in our hearts. A really magical telling of the man who changed the world and humanity itself. I hope many come and see what Katherine has accomplished."
---Mark Ruhala, Director

Social Distancing; or How to Kill a Party - staged reading

10/3/2022

Saturday, October 8, 7pm at Riverwalk Theatre

You're invited to be part of a studio audience for a staged reading of "Social Distancing; or How to Kill a Party" — a new comedy by local playwright Roger Rochowiak, centering on family relationships/expectations challenged by pandemic restrictions.

This is a similar project to Roger’s previous Slip and Fall production three years ago at Riverwalk. Local actors practice all day, under the direction of Tom Ferris, and Roger’s new script comes to life for the first time at 7pm.

Producer Elliott Smith is having the show recorded for promotional purposes to potentially offer this show to other theatre groups. THIS audience’s all important reactions will be part of the video.

Roger is known for including a “feisty old lady” in his scripts, and this time she will be played by your GLUT lady here, Jane Zussman. Other roles will be played by Adam Carlson, Rachel Daugherty, Jeff Magnuson, Bob Murrell, Lanie Plunkett, Amy Rickett, and Andrew Stewart

Admission by donation, proceeds to Riverwalk Theatre. Masks required for audience members.
