Glutster's CHOICE Awards RESULTS!!

6/30/2013

THANKS to all 63 of you who participated in this first annual Glutster's Choice Award voting.I was hoping for more out of 764 of you, but hey... it's a start!

Here's how I counted:The "single" total is single votes. For the "weighted" total, I gave a number of votes equal to the number of shows that voter had seen.SO, the "weighted" result is the opinion of voters with relatively more perspective.

(Note, I Mark and I did NOT vote... since we've seen five or six times more shows than the average, and our opinions are not THAT normal. GLUTster's Choice vote is supposed to be the opinion of more normal theatre-goers.

Average number of shows seen: 13

MUSICALS:
Favorite Musical "single" votes: RAGTIME - LCC

Favorite Musical "weighted" votes: RAGTIME - LCC

Came close: Putnam County Spelling Bee - OTL

PLAYS:
Favorite Play "single" votes: THE 39 STEPS - Riverwalk

Favorite Play "weighted" votes: AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY - Riverwalk

Came close: The Diviners - Riverwalk Black Box

NOTE: The "Thespie" Award results will appear in the Lansing State Journal soon. The Pulsar Awards from the Lansing City Pulse will be announced in conjunction with the Renegade Theatre Festival August 15-17 - renegadetheatrefestival.org

6/28-29 - "Princess Lucy in the Land of Pretend"

6/27/2013

6/28-29 - "Princess Lucy in the Land of Pretend" - NEW old-fashioned TV studio puppet show with clever script by Bruce Bennett and charming ventriloquism by Princess Lucy (Kellie Stonebrook) $6 for all ages at the door. 7pm Friday, show only. 12:30 and 4:30 Saturday, both shows followed by puppet making/using workshop led by Princess Kellie. www.riverwalktheatre.com

"Passport to Mudge's Follies"

6/27/2013

6/27-28 - "Passport to Mudge's Follies" takes the stage at the Grand Ledge High School Auditorium this Thursday, June 27th, 7 p.m., and Friday, June 28thy, 7 p.m.

It is proving to be an extraordinary show with some darned good acts! Lots of dancing choreographed by Garnett Kepler - including an appearance by her well-know "Habibi Dancers" middle eastern dance troupe. We end with a celebration of the Fourth of July, and our freedom!

Thanks, Libby Brandon

THANKS for your responses in the Glutster's Choice awards

6/24/2013

NOTE: THANKS for your responses in the Glutster's Choice awards; still want MORE. I said one vote per email address, but I HAVE given separate votes to each half of a couple at the same email, so... that's okay. (Yes, you CAN vote for your own show... ;-})  Don't forget to send the NUMBER of shows you've seen, and your favorite Musical and favorite Play to jszussman@gmail.com
Voting ends at midnight Thursday, June 27.

Princess Lucy in the Land of Pretend credits error

6/24/2013

NOTE: I mistakenly credited Matt Ottinger with the nostalgic TV commercials in the charming Princess Lucy in the Land of Pretend puppet "TV" show for the whole family at Riverwalk. Turns out Matt just provided the projector, and author/puppeteer Bruce Bennett collected the ads. Very clever unique new old-fashioned show - $6 for all - 7pm Fri., 12:30 & 4:30 Saturday, with both Saturday shows followed by a make-your-own-puppet workshop. www.riverwalktheatre.com

Winifred Olds' funeral

6/24/2013

NOTE: Winifred Olds' funeral is at 11 am tomorrow (Tuesday) at Okemos Community Church, (4734 Okemos Rd, Okemos, MI 48864) with family visitation an hour before.

The LSJ obituary invited donations to Starlight Dinner Theatre and Riverwalk Theatre in Win's honor - but didn't get the addresses right.  (http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/lsj/obituary.aspx?page=lifestory&pid=165471352#fbLoggedOut)
Starlight Dinner Theatre's mailing address is 225 Leland Place, Lansing, MI 48917 Riverwalk Theatre's mailing address is: P.O. Box 12249, Lansing MI 48901

PLEASE email your GLUTster's Choice VOTE SOON! Voting closes this Thursday, the 27th.

6/23/2013

Okay... below is a "new improved" version of the GLUTster's Choice ballot (with the 2 left-outs added, 3 duplicates removed and Tempest changed to Titus.)

Yes, you HAVE seen enough shows to qualify. (Some have voted, having seen only ONE show!)
Below is a list of the shows for the past season.  Please count how many of these shows you have actually seen, and email the following direct to me at jszussman@gmail.com:

1. NUMBER of shows you've seen
2. your choice for BEST MUSICAL
3. your choice for BEST PLAY

One vote per e-mail address.
(I'm trying to keep it simple since I have NO expertise in spreadsheets and programs/apps that add and average and the like. This is my spreadsheet "lesson" project!)

There are 766 of you. Add your voices to the Thespies and Pulsars and Barneys which are decided my much smaller groups of people. I sort of love/hate ALL the awards, but they do call ATTENTION to Local Live Theatre, which, we hope, advances "the GLUT cause" if you will.      ;-}

At any rate, I hope you'll participate and find it interesting to see the response in this first (annual?) GLUTsters Choice award.
(Note the "Key" to the theatre initials is at the end.)

Voting closes on JUNE 27, 2013.
