And be sure to have a couple of possible dates, in case your first choice has already been filled. Thanks!!

WT Artistic Director Tony Caselli speaks about directing the World Premiere of Annie Martin's 10:53:

"I love working with the playwright in the room. Such a luxury to have immediate access to their insight into scenes and characters! And when the writer is able to craft things to work with each actors' strengths, rewriting as we're shaping the piece, the whole production benefits!"

May 16 – June 16, 2013
A World Premiere

The worst part of a hospital waiting room is normally the waiting but, in the midst of a prolonged family medical crisis, Kathryn Fuller regards the waiting room as a welcome refuge from her increasingly chaotic life. However, the real world quickly invades her new home away from home, and she’s surrounded with her over-the-top family life, rebellious, love-struck daughter and a mysterious stranger who, oddly, shows up at the same time every night.  What happens when the universe decides our lives need a shaking up, whether we like it or not?  Will Kathryn get drawn into the ridiculous comedy, drama, and potential romance swirling around her beloved waiting room, or will she burrow deeper into her seclusion from the world?  Contains mature language.

Directed by Tony Caselli.
Featuring Sandra Birch, Julia Garlotte,
John Lepard and Zachera Wollenberg.

5/10-19 - The Beauty Queen of Leenane - Black Box stage at Riverwalk

4/30/2013

May  10-12, 17-19, 2013
Dark Comedy by Martin McDonagh
Directed by John Roche

This hilariously horrifying dark-comedy centers on Maureen Folan (Abby Murphy), a beaten-down, fortiesh spinster living in literal and figurative discomfort, with Mag (Janet Lockwood), her passive-aggressive, harridan of a mother in County Galway, Ireland in 1989. Emotional and physical one-upmanship ensues when their lives are touched by two brothers, Pato (Blake Bowen) and Ray (Joseph Mull) Dooley, who live up the road. Can Maureen’s life-sentence of miserable drudgery be commuted, allowing her a path to love and fulfillment? Can Bleak House become Great Expectations?

Note, a few weeks into rehearsals, two of this four-person cast had to drop out for personal reasons and Jan Lockwood and Joe Mull have stepped in. They deserve extra credit for jumping onto this challenging show when the train was already rolling! I'm a little embarrassed that our Ripples newsletter, sent out  March 29, has the cast wrong —but all reports indicate that the new cast is equally powerful. Don't miss this show!
Black Box has general seating but reservations ensure admission in case of a sellout. $12/$10 8pm Fri/Sat. 2pm Sun.482-5700 - www.riverwalktheatre.com

5/10-18 : Starlight Dinner Theatre presents "The Fox on the Fairway" by Ken Ludwig

4/29/2013

Starlight closes it’s season with the madcap comedy by Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Crazy for You, Leading Ladies and Moon Over Buffalo) Directed by Linda M. Granger (Delta Twsp) show dates are Friday and Saturday, May 10, 11, 17 & 18, 2013.

THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY features the 43rd annual grudge match between rival golf clubs, thrown for a loop when the best golfer switches teams on the eve of the competition. It's a hilarious romp with classic elements like mistaken identities, huge consequences riding on the match's outcome, marriages on the brink of disaster, and secret romantic shenanigans that recalls the Marx Brothers in their heyday.

Monkey business and water hazards collide in this madcap adventure about love and golf! With a ridiculous personal wager at stake, two arch-rival country club execs go head-to-head over their annual golf tournament.   Hopes are dashed and domestic happiness threatened when the star player switches sides at the last minute – until a hilarious chain of events leads to missing valuables retrieved, secret liaisons revealed, and an unlikely golfer is recruited, one who just might save the day! You won’t want to miss this charmingly madcap adventure – about love, life, and man’s eternal love affair with… golf. (Contains sexual situations and may not be suitable for children.)

“This show is a farce, and we have incorporated a lot of physical comedy” stated Granger.  “Almost the entire cast ends up on the floor at one time or anther.  I feel so blessed to have these six actors who have brought something new to rehearsals every night and who literally throw themselves into their roles!” Starring Jeffrey Kennedy, Chris Klaver, Diana Lett, Ron McNeil, Rachel Mender and Charlotte Ruppert and directed by Linda Granger.

Dinner before the show will be Pork Loin Au Jus, Roasted Red Skin Potatoes, Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Dinner Roll w/butter, Cheese Cake or Banana Pudding, Coffee & Lemonade. A vegetarian option (Cheese Tortellini with marinara sauce) is available upon request when making your reservation.

Show performances take place in the Waverly East Cafetorium located at 3131 W. Michigan Ave.  Lansing, MI  48917.  Dinner is served at 6:30pm with the show beginning at 7:30pm.  Dinner reservations are required 48 hours before the show begins!
