And get ready for OCTOBER…
YOU can be a PART of a unique, new postal/theatrical event from Peppermint Creek:

Opening Up: a community returns to the world - a theatrical event told in letters & artifacts
Beginning October 2021 (then monthly through June 2022)

In an effort for our community to open up to us and to each other after a period of being isolated and closed off from the world during the global COVID-19 pandemic, Peppermint Creek presents “Opening Up: A Community Returns to the World”.

The community is encouraged to send in one-page letters describing a time in your life when you had to open up in some new or unexpected way and what you learned from the experience. PCTC will highlight one letter each month throughout the season to send to participants in the mail.

Each letter will be accompanied by an artifact that corresponds/helps deepen the experience of the story and may have a participatory element for participants. Other letters from the community will be featured on PCTC’s social media platforms throughout the season in an effort to continue exploring the season theme of “Opening Up” and to continue a dialogue around what that looks like, specifically after a global pandemic.

PCTC hopes this theatrical experience told through letters will be an old (and new!) way to highlight our community voices and for you to experience personal stories from your community in a tactile and visceral way - much as PCTC has always done as a theater company.

Check the website for “tickets” (which is really more like a “subscription”?) http://www.peppermintcreek.org

Accepting letters throughout the entire season. Send your one-page letters via email to office@peppermintcreek.org, or mail to:

Matilda - Finally - this weekend

8/8/2021

Evolve Theatrics, formerly the Blue Light Players, are proud to announce that their production of "Matilda, The Musical" will take place on August 13, 14, and 15 at the Lakewood HS Performing Arts Center in Lake Odessa, MI.

This production was less than a month from opening when the pandemic hit in March 2020. We made a promise to our cast members that given the opportunity, we would not give up on their dream of performing this show. In June 2021, we decided to undertake an ambitious six week rehearsal schedule to bring "Matilda" to the stage. With the exception of Bruce, all of our little kids are in new roles and we had to replace Matilda, Miss Honey, Mr. Wormwood, Michael, and our Escapologist.

Not only have we survived this aggressive rehearsal schedule, we have thrived in the process. The joy of performing and creating theater can be felt in every rehearsal. Our 28 cast members can't wait to welcome our audiences and truly demonstrate that "even if you are little, you can do a lot”.

Socially distanced seating will be in effect for all performances and audience members are strongly encouraged to wear masks. In an effort to cut back on social interaction, there will be no tickets available at the door. However, tickets may be purchased online or on a smartphone up until curtain time each night. All seats are reserved and for more details, you may visit our website at: http://www.evolvetheatrics.com

Featuring Sarab Kamoo, John Lepard, Jasmine Rivera, and David Wolber.

The Thanksgiving Play
by Larissa FastHorse

Saturday, August 7 at 7pm

How does one celebrate Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Month at the same time? In Larissa FastHorse’s biting satire, this is the question facing three “woke” white thespians tasked with devising an elementary school pageant about the first Thanksgiving while avoiding any culturally appropriative missteps. A roast of the politics of entertainment and well-meaning political correctness alike, The Thanksgiving Play puts the American origin story itself in the comedy-crosshairs.

Free and open to the public. On the MSU Campus off Auditorium Road, between the Auditorium Building and the Kresge Art Museum. Both plays are intended for mature audiences. No reservations required. Bring a chair or blanket to  sit on, and bug spray. Masks are required for un-vaccinated patrons. Social distancing is not required but encouraged.
