Border Crossings Deal

3/26 - Special offer for theatre friends to see 17 Border Crossings this Sunday, March 26!
17 Border Crossings

Sunday, March 26, 6:30pm
Pasant Theatre ~ MSU's Wharton Center

“Dazzling! Phillips is a fluid, shifting storyteller, something of a conjuror. Technically brilliant, dizzyingly so. Each episode is beautifully rendered, an act of transportation.” — The Stage (UK)

The history of passports, smuggling Kentucky Fried Chicken into other countries and so many peculiarities of travel  — it’s all covered in this miraculous, one-man saga that unpacks how the mundane details of global travel become the actual journey. 17 Border Crossings is a surreal sojourn that transports us to very real places: Hungary, Serbia, Morocco, Colombia, Holland and Mexico, to name a few. In the deft, mischievous manner of the trickster, Phillips manages to float huge questions that surround the fraught migrations of our era.

With all the childlike curiosity and adult skepticism of monologist Spalding Gray, and the theatrical wizardry of Robert Lepage, Thaddeus Phillips takes audiences by the hand on a trip around the world and shows us that when we cross the imaginary lines that divide up the world, the real borders come to light. Contains strong language.

A pre-show talk at 5:45 pm and post-show chat will take place the night of the performance, free for ticket-holders.

Special offer! $28 tickets to see 17 Border Crossings, while supplies last. Click to take advantage of this offer.*http://ev10.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventInfo?ticketCode=PR:WC:WC1617:PT0326E:CROSSINGS&linkID=wharton&shopperContext=&caller=PR&appCode=&prc=CROSSINGS&ppc=CROSSINGS

EURIDICE at Peppermint Creek

A love story torn between the living and the dead...
"Continue to give yourself to others because that's the ultimate satisfaction in life--to love, accept, honor and help others."

Opening next week, Eurydice comes to the Peppermint Creek stage to bring you this contemporary love story from the wonderland of the Underworld. Ripped from her beloved Orpheus, Eurydice is reunited with her dead father in the Land of the Dead. Orpheus journeys to retrieve his bride, but Eurydice has begun to discover that the cost of living again can sometimes exceed the cost of staying dead.

Help a costumer in need

3/16/2017

There’s an update on the GoFundMe account for Ashley Hawkins (used to be Bryant.) I made two mistakes saying she "worked at The Costume Shop for a few years when it was at the LCC Firehouse” - I meant LCP Firehouse, which I misheard Skip tell me on the phone — but I was more right in that wrongness because she worked at the LCC - Lansing Community College - Costume Shop. She's getting  bi-lateral (double) mastectomy, actually today, March 17, on her birthday and she and her family could use some $ help. Read more about her story and consider making a donation at:

EAST LANSING, Mich. – RENT’S 20th Anniversary Tour will offer a pre-show lottery at the Ticket Office for $20 seats in the first two rows of the orchestra section. The lottery will be offered for each performance, beginning two-and-a-half hours prior to curtain time. Interested persons should be at Wharton Center’s Ticket Office at that time to submit their name for the drawing. The drawing will take place two hours before curtain, for a limited number of tickets priced at $20 each. Only one entry is allowed per person (cards are checked for duplication prior to drawing), and each entry may request up to 2 tickets. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Limit one entry per person and two tickets per winner. Tickets are subject to availability.

The tradition of the $20 tickets began in 1996 in New York, when the show moved to Broadway after a sold-out run in a small downtown theatre. The producers of the show are committed to continuing the tradition of offering orchestra seats for $20 in each city the show will play.

As part of the MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center Series, RENT – 20th ANNIVERSARY TOUR will perform on Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall stage from March 17-19, 2017. Tickets are available at Wharton Center’s official ticketing outlets: online at whartoncenter.com, at the Auto-Owners Insurance Ticket Office at Wharton Center, or by calling 1-800-WHARTON.
