Oedipus at Colonus. Streaming live on our Facebook page at 8 pm on Friday, August 28, this second part of Sophocles' classic trilogy catches up with the tragic Oedipus many years after the events of Oedipus Rex. Having been thrust from his home and kingdom in Thebes, Oedipus finds himself a wayfarer in Athens, where he rests on a rock near the town of Colonus. Reflecting on fate, guilt, treachery and friendship, Oedipus spends his final hours with his daughters. When a haunting figure from his past returns to take his daughters away, Oedipus looks to Theseus of Athens for aid. Directed by Dale Wayne Williams with technical direction by Cody Skalmowski, the cast features a host of Lansing area favorites, including transplants Jordan Climie in Detroit and Monica Holland in Boston. Those who tuned in to our production of Oedipus Rex will see some familiar faces in the cast, including Tim Edinger returning as Oedipus and Joe Clark continuing in the role of Creon (joined this time around by his fiancee Kate Dickinson!). This event is Free, but donations are encouraged and very much appreciated: paypal.me/curtainlesstheatre Note: this play contains sensitive material that may not be suitable for all ages. Parental guidance suggested. Note from Jane: You can check out the “prequel” Oedipus Rex, at Curtainelss Theatre’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/search/videos/?q=the curtainless theatre As a “classics-challenged” viewer, I recommend checking out the Cliff’s Notes version, in advance.
