Directed by Janet Ehrlich ColsonYou are cordially invited to attend a performance of “The Wiz” at Everett High School.
Everett is celebrating the 40th anniversary of “The Wiz”, the first all-black created and produced show to open on Broadway. The show opened Jan. 5, 1975 and ran for 4 years and over 1600 performances!!
March 27th 7:00 pm March 28th 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm

Everett High School's production of the Wiz! Somehow the dates got split up on the press release and director Jan Colson is worried that people will only see the dates and times of the second weekend. Performances are (this) Friday, the 20th at 7:00 pm, Saturday the 21st at 7:00 pm, and then the following Friday the 27th at 7:00 pm and Saturday the 28th with a matinee at 2:00 pm on Saturday the 28th.

This special School Edition has been masterfully adapted, working directly with Mr. Sondheim,to retain the dark wit and grand scope of the original work, with a few lyric and key changes to facilitate high school productions.  The rare instance of a musical thriller, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, and the resourceful proprietress of the pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meatpie recipe!

Performances are 4/19 &26 at 7pm, 4/20 & 27 at 2 & 7 PM
$5 adults, $3 students
