Falsettos coming to Peppermint Creek

10/27/2017

____________________
11/5-12 - FALSETTOS musical at Peppermint Creek

"Falsettos" is the story of Marvin’s large, eccentric, and dysfunctional -- but loving -- Jewish family in New York at the end of the 1970s. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1992 and was nominated for seven Tony Awards, of which it won Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. It was revived briefly on Broadway in 2016, and the revival performance was nominated for five Tony Awards.

The New York Times deemed "Falsettos" “Exhilarating and heartbreaking”, Variety called it “a masterly feat of comic storytelling and [...] visionary musical theater," and Newsday stated "what a treasure this is: brave and hilarious, charming, disarming, loaded with honest sentiment and cynicism."

“It’s a great addition to Peppermint Creek’s “Who’s Leading” season theme, as many characters have desires that completely clash. You may be surprised to see who you find has the upper hand,” said Ben Cassidy, PCTC Guest Director.

11/4 - RWT Saturday Night - folk, jazz, classical & Lansing’s Poet Laureate!

Nov. 4, 8 PM
Fun variety show! Thanks to the performers’ generosity, all proceeds go to Riverwalk!
$10+ suggested donation at the door;  general seating • 517-482-5700

Tom Heideman has once again assembled a new and interesting array of performers — this time with a classical/jazz flair. He and Mary Koenigsknecht will perform their acclaimed folk-ish singer/songwriter favorites, with other musicians including classical flute and guitar with Bryan Guarnuccio and Chris Rollins, plus jazz with the DJClarinet Combo featuring Doug Carleton, Duncan Tarr and Nathan Borton.
We’ll miss Tom’s poet friend David James, but the “poetry slot” will be well filled with Dennis Hinrichsen, selected last April as the inaugural Lansing Poet Laureate.
Dennis is a long-time Lansing resident and retired professor of English at LCC.

Native American Input for White Buffalo

WHITE BUFFALO Director, Michael Hays, seeks Native American input/participation

Hey, theatre community! As director of the upcoming production of "White Buffalo” (http://www.RiverwalkTheatre.com) which centers upon the Lakota Sioux prophecy of an albino buffalo birth, I want to make sure that our presentation is as respectful and accurate as possible depicting the culture of our indigenous peoples. I'm even hoping to cast at least one true Native American in a significant role, and possibly some chorus members (just as important, btw), as well. I also hope to include accurate, appropriate music, artwork, tribal ceremonies, etc. Please spread the word, and also please contact me directly if you're able to provide any information on this endeavor, on Facebook, or via email at stage1actor@yahoo.com. Thank you all in advance! Michael Hays
