Lansing theater friends: The Okemos school system is looking for someone part-time to run/manage our theaters. Mostly at a very well-equipped high school, but two other theaters at the middle schools as well. Key responsibilities are to run lights and sound for various concerts and events, plus design and build sets for three drama productions annually. You'll work with a well-trained student stage crew, who would continue to evolve under your supervision and guidance. Not much money, but a fun atmosphere and a lot of autonomy for the right person. Send me a private message or write me at [email protected] for more info.

4/24 - 5/3 - Okemos High School Theatre presents:
LOSERVILLE, A New Musical Music, book and lyrics by Elliot Davis and James Bourne April 24, 25 - 7:30 pm May 1, 2 - 7:30 pm May 3 - 2:30 pm Okemos High School Theater, 2800 Jolly Rd, Okemos, MI 48864 Tickets available at http://www.okemostheatre.net/ $10 for students and seniors; $15 for adults Join us for the Michigan premiere of "Loserville", the smash-hit new musical from London's West End takes geek to a whole new rock-pop level. Nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2013 and many more accolades, Loserville is based on the groundbreaking album "Welcome to Loserville" from the band Son of Dork. It's 1972. Misfit computer geek Michael Dork and his friends are about to change the whole world. It's just that no one knows it yet. Michael's also discovered a girl, Holly, a prospective (almost) as exciting as his love of binary. If only he had the courage to talk to her! Perhaps things haven't changed that much after all! You would never expect that geeks would have inherited the world. But they did! Loserville gives us the seventies with a cast of characters that are totally recognizable and a score that is entirely contemporary. Featuring an electric pop-rock score and a hysterical book, this is a high octane, no-holds-barred feel-great musical. November 6-8 at 7:30, November 9 at 2:30
George Orwell’s satire on the perils of Stalinism has proved magnificently long-lived as a parable about totalitarianism anywhere and has given the world at least one immortal phrase: “Some are more equal than others.” The animals on a farm drive out their master and take over and run the farm for themselves. The experiment is successful, except that someone has to take the deposed farmer’s place. Leadership devolves upon the pigs, which are cleverer than the rest of the animals. Unfortunately, their character is not equal to their intelligence. Tickets & info at: www.okemostheatre.net 7:30 Fri/Sat April 25-26 & Thur/Fri/Sat May 1,2,3

Okemos High School Theater, 2800 Jolly Road in Okemos Tickets available online at www.okemosdrama.net or at the door Okemos High School presents “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”, a play based on the based on the books by Robert Fulghum, conceived and adapted by Ernest Zulia and music and lyrics by David Caldwell, on January 30, 31 & February 1 at 7:30pm and February 2 at 2:30pm. Tickets are available online at www.okemosdrama.net or at the door ($5 Students and Senior Citizens, $10 Adults). Based on Robert Fulghum's best-selling books, Kindergarten takes a funny, insightful, heartwarming look at what is profound in everyday life. This tightly woven adaptation has earned standing ovations from Singapore to Prague— from L.A. to D.C. It's an evening of theatrical storytelling in revue format, with monologues, dialogues, and multiple voice narration, enhanced through the use of live piano underscoring, which provides fluidity, charm, and emotional texture, and seven optional original songs. The delightful stories feature colorful characters such as: a shy little boy who insists on playing the "pig" in his class production of Cinderella and steals the show; a man whose dream of flying carries him high over Los Angeles … in a lawn chair buoyed by surplus weather balloons; a "mother of the bride" who's staged a perfect wedding—until the bowling ball of fate rolls down the aisle; and a modern-day Greek philosopher who finds the meaning of life in a piece of broken mirror from World War II. These stories celebrate our very existence, from the whimsy of childhood to the wisdom of old age. The talented cast includes Okemos High School students Maya Aronoff, Kevin Corbett, Mikaela Gould, Eddie Mayes, Hannah Romain and DJ Shafer. The show is directed by Mr. Chad DeKatch with Technical Director Mr. Brian Ugorowski and Student Director Skyler Ray. Ben Diaz of Diaz School of Piano provides piano accompaniment and OHS Principal Christine Sermak is the show’s narrator.
