2/13-14 - The All-of-Us Express Children's Theatre Wind in the Willows is outstanding; it's the timeless story of a dreamer who gets himself into trouble but fortunately has friends who are there to support each other. The cast is expressive and has great chemistry, projects and enunciates well. The costumes, makeup and set are creative, and the story incorporates a "fight" scene between the friends and the conniving weasels which is so extensive and well-choreographed you could watch it repeatedly and continue to notice something new each time. The story is straightforward enough to be understood by all ages, and the action will keep even young attendees' attention.
Wind in the Willows continues Friday, February 13 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, February 14 at 2:00 and 4:30 p.m., at Hannah Community Center on Abbott Road in East Lansing. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth 17 and under. http://www.cityofeastlansing.com/allofus Attached are the documents pertaining to All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre's first ever Young Playwright's Festival, coming up in May! In the harmonious undersea world of merpeople, the little mermaid Pearl dreams of the world above. Her sisters Luna and Coral, her father, Anemone the Sea King, and her grandmother, the Great Mother, warn her of the dangers above. But Pearl, in love with the handsome prince whose life she saved, trades her voice to the Sea Witch to become human. After the Sea Witch is vanquished by her twin sister, the Great Mother, Pearl regains her voice, marries the prince, and happiness and harmony prevail. Delightful inventions, reverberating with the ecology of land and ocean, render exciting and newly relevant this adaptation by Linda Daugherty of the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Presented by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing. Please note that there is a 10:00 am show the second Friday for groups only; pre-paid reservation is required. Evelyn Weymouth Announced as Interim Artistic Director of All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre8/9/2013
The City of East Lansing is pleased to announce Evelyn Weymouth as the interim artistic director of the All-of-us Express Children’s Theatre (AECT).
Weymouth founded AECT in 1989 and retired at the end of the 2006-2007 season. She is returning for the first two shows of AECT’s 25th Anniversary Season. She will serve as director for AECT’s upcoming fall production of Treasure Island, as well as the upcoming winter production of Winnie the Pooh. It is only fitting that Weymouth is back, especially for the Winnie the Pooh production, as it was the first show AECT brought to the stage back in 1989. "I’m excited to return to AECT for the first two shows of the 25th season," said Weymouth. "I’m thrilled to be back in a directorial position, working alongside today’s talented area youth to bring two great productions to the stage." "We are fortunate that Evelyn stepped up to take on the interim artistic director position with All-of-us Express," said East Lansing Parks, Recreation & Arts Director Tim McCaffrey. "Evelyn’s history with the program and her proven vision and leadership will be quite beneficial to the area youth participating in the first two shows of the 25th season." Weymouth holds two degrees in Children’s Theatre and Creative Dramatics, including a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts from the University of Minnesota. Her practical experience ranges from her own theatrical activities as a child to experience teaching and performing for other children in more recent years. Many theaters, libraries, schools and recreation departments have made use of Weymouth’s talents. Weymouth’s first day as interim artistic director for AECT was Aug. 1.
