This is a darkly delicious story of Veronica Sawyer, a brainy, beautiful teenage misfit who hustles her way into the most powerful and ruthless clique at Westerberg High: the Heathers. But before she can get comfortable atop the high school food chain, Veronica falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D. When Heather Chandler, the Almighty, kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to bite the bullet and kiss Heather’s aerobicized ass… but J.D. has another plan for that bullet.
Heathers the musical was created by the award-winning creative team of Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness, “Desperate Housewives”), Laurence O’Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde) and Andy Fickman (Reefer Madness, She’s the Man), and is a hilarious, heartfelt and homicidal new show based on the greatest teen comedy of all time. With its moving love story, laugh-out-loud comedy and unflinching look at the joys and anguish of high school, Heathers the Musical is ready to take Lansing by storm.
Emma Kron-Deacon, playing the wickedly ruthless Heather Chandler in Lansing’s production had this to say about the deeper layers of the musical, “I feel incredibly lucky to be in this production of Heathers. Not only is it one of the highest energy, hysterical and dynamic shows I have ever been a part of, it has a unique and challenging significance in my life. There are countless elements in Heathers that I can identify with, but what resonates with me the most is the emphasis the show has on suicide. I’ve become passionate about speaking out about this topic that is ignored far too often, and Heathers is a piece of theatre that doesn’t shy away from suicide, and I think it is extremely eye opening for those who don’t much about the topic. I admire this musical because of its fearlessness to explore dark topics. It forces you to examine suicide and other vital issues like bullying and violence that are as real in Lansing, Michigan today as they are in this show.”

This production of Heathers the Musical is being directed by PCTC’s Co-Artistic Director, Blake Bowen, music direction by John Dale Smith, and stars a cast of 17 local performers from the Greater Lansing area.
