I did not send this out before, because I try to draw the line at "dance" and stick to "theatre." I already feel like I'm bombarding you all with "too much" (hence the GLUT, as an acronym and as an actuality.) But of course, dance and theatre overlap. ANYway, theatre aficionado Karen Grannemann sent the following high recommendation not to miss the ONE MORE SHOW of Among the Darkest Shadows on Sunday at 1pm.
"After attending last night's performance of Among the Darkest Shadows, I am compelled to send this note strongly recommending that you make every effort to witness this incredible work of art. I must confess that I was a little wary as to how a topic like human trafficking could be handled through dance, but it is the most beautiful, sensitive, and moving work I have ever seen, on a topic that receives far too little coverage. My husband and I were blown away. If you have no plans for Sunday afternoon, I urge you to consider going. It will make you even more proud of Wharton and its visionary leadership in the arts. Kudos to Bert Goldstein and the entire Wharton team." - Karen Grannemann

INLET DANCE THEATRE is one of the country’s most exciting professional contemporary dance companies. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, this company utilizes the art form of dance to bring about personal development in the lives of individuals through training and mentoring, and to speak creatively about life and the issues we all face.
Among the Darkest Shadows tells the poignant stories of Lodi, a young victim of labor trafficking, and Pinta, a victim of sex trafficking. Written by California-based playwright José Cruz González, this powerful new story follows Lodi and Pinta’s harrowing journey through contemporary enslavement and their struggle to be free. The story is told largely through innovative dance portraying the magical realism of Mr. González’s writing, featuring his signature style of larger-than-life characters, bold visuals, poetic images, and striking symbolism. You will not want to miss this incredible new work.
There will be an Insight Preview and After Chat at each performance. The Insight Previews will be held at 6:45 p.m. for the Thursday performance and 12:15 p.m. for the Sunday performance, in the Jackson Lounge; After Chats will take place in the theatre immediately after each performance.
