3/18 - 26 - Ixion is pleased to present the world premier of two one act plays by Lisa Konoplisky.
SAL-9000 and Nebraska Rapture will make their debut in the show titled Askew Askance A Squirrel!: An Evening in Lisa Konoplisky's World. Performances are March 18, 19, 25 & 26 in The Robin Theatre 1105 S. Washington Ave. Lansing, MI. Performances are at 8 pm on Saturdays and 7 pm on Sundays. Nebraska Rapture is directed by Sadonna Croff and features: Jamie Schnepp, Monica Tanner, Danica O'Neill and Nick Lemmer.
Billie Lou Riddle is worried about Toby, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that looks remarkably like a guy made to look like a dog. She wants to make sure there is someone to take care of him after she is gone. Emily Marks assumes that Billie's planning a trip, but quickly learns that Billie is planning a longer departure "as foretold". Emily is a perfect candidate to care for the pooch, because she and he won't be going anywhere after the rapture.
SAL-9000 is directed by Nicole Clyne, who is making her Ixion directing debut, and features: Monica Tanner, Nick Lemmer, Angharad McGauhey and Tracey Dolinar.
Jill is uncertain about her new gift, the SAL-9000. She isn't sure she can trust a sentient washer/dryer, all purpose service machine. But Jill has been hurt and in spite of the SAL-9000 lacking a delicate cycle, finds herself becoming emotionally attached.
"I can't wait to see what the directors and cast do with these fun scripts," says jeff croff, Ixion Artistic Director. "Not only does this continue our season of all new works, it allows us to work with another old friend. I first worked with Lisa when we did another one act play she wrote called White Elephant. Her off-kilter and unique thoughts which range from a six foot tall lesbian, gun-toting parrot to a sentient washing machine always make me laugh."
Lisa Konoplisky is a Wisconsin-based writer, playwright and screenwriter. Her work has been performed across the the country. She will be attending the performance on March 25 and will participate in a talk back that evening immediately after the show.
