The Lansing Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is pleased to announce its Broadway Rocks concert, a part of the Pops series, that will take place Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall.
The evening will feature exciting vocalists from the Broadway stage performing selections from such contemporary Broadway musicals as “Hairspray,” “The Lion King,” “Chicago,” “Rent,” “The Wiz” and “Phantom of the Opera.”
“This is a return performance of the Broadway Rocks concert to Lansing since the performance a few years ago was wonderfully received! The vocalists look forward to energizing the audience with a variety of selections from fan-favorite productions,” said John Such, executive director for John Such Artists’ Management.
The concert will feature three vocalists: Dan Domenech, LaKisha Jones and Rachel Potter.
Domenech’s versatile vocals have been heard in 49 states and eight countries. Touring with productions of “Rent,” “Wonderland,” “Sister Act,” “Rock of Ages” and “Kinky Boots,” Domenech has made his mark as one of the industry’s top leading men. He recently performed the role of Che in “Evita.”
Best known to millions of TV viewers as a top-four finalist during the 2007 season of “American Idol,” Jones is ready to reclaim center stage in music, theater and television. Having worked with hit-making songwriters and producers including Tony Nicholas (Patti LaBelle, Luther Vandross), Ro & Sauce (Brandy, Ne-Yo) and Greg Curtis (Keyshia Cole, Yolanda Adams), Jones featured a spirited mix of R&B and soul on her last album, “So Glad I’m Me.”
Potter, dubbed by US Weekly as “One to Watch,” and whose “crystalline vocals” were raved about by the Hollywood Reporter, is both a Broadway star and an accomplished Nashville recording artist. She made her Broadway debut as Wednesday in “The Addams Family.” She also had the honor of touring with the smash hit “Wicked,” where she understudied the ever “popular” Glinda.
LSO’s 2021-22 season features five concerts in the MasterWorks series, three in the Pops series, four in the Chamber series and two in the Jazz Band series. Tickets can be purchased at lansingsymphony.org or by calling the LSO office at 517-487-5001.
