Eddie, an unemployed truck driver, reunites with his ex-wife Ani after she suffers a devastating accident. John, a brilliant and witty doctoral student, hires overworked Jess as a caregiver. As their lives intersect, Majok’s play delves into the chasm between abundance and need and explores the space where bodies—abled and disabled—meet each other.
Peppermint Creek Guest Director, Janet Colson, speaks about why she is excited about bringing this new play to Lansing audiences, “Martyna Majok’s incredible script really drew me to the show. It's interesting, unusual and I know audiences will see themselves in one of the four characters - or all of them. And they will definitely be talking about it afterwards - maybe to me! And I’ve enjoyed connecting with people in the community about important issues, i.e., inclusion, accessibility, representation”.
"Cost of Living" features Juan Salazar (Eddie), Laura Croff (Ani), Max Donovan (John) and Ny'kieria Blocker (Jess). "Cost of Living" is generously underwritten by Pam & Doug Badgero and Susan & Jack Davis.
